I would like to thank Dave Kelly for calling in trash being dumped on Gallop Road, just West of Road 5. I drove out to investigate and found 8 or more gallons of Sure Fine milk, buttermilk, skim milk with 15 tubs of cottage cheese, ranch dressing with two dozen containers of eggs and a little broccoli. And I can’t leave out the bottles of out of date orange juice. It was in 5 brown cardboard boxes marked “Sweet Corn”. Not sure who all uses Sure Fine commercial deliveries in our area but I hope they figure out that this is not the way to dispose of out of date products. Another thank you goes out to Joe Massey who came along as I was tossing it all up on the side of the road. Joe offered to use his truck to properly dispose of the items in a garbage container in Cedar Vale where it originally should have been placed. I have many people tell me just how beautiful our county is, and always enjoy driving along and looking at the natural beauty. Please help keep it this way.

On or about 2 April 2018, a FedEx box was stolen from a driveway near road 30 and Bronco Road. The box contained $2,500 worth of assorted knives. Anyone having information about this theft, that leads to a conviction, is eligible for a REWARD offered by the owner.

We at the Chautauqua county Sheriff's department are very concerned as someone has misplaced their Rig. If you would like to get it back, please stop by the Sheriffs department and ask for a deputy. We are here to protect and serve.

The Sheriff’s Department received a call that a residence on road 10 had a one-week old, white Charolais calf stolen. If anyone has any information about the theft or the recent acquisition of a Charolais calf, please let us know as it may provide information to help solve this crime and others like it. With this said, be aware of any vehicles driving around that don’t belong. If there is someone driving around on a road seldom traveled, give us a call. You are our eyes and ears when it comes to catching cattle thieves. Always remember, if they will steal from your neighbor, they will steal from you as well.

I would like to send out a big Thank You to Katie Feldman, who is the Deputy Director, Strategic Campaigns and Special Projects of the Humane Society of the United States, and the humane Society for donating a heat alarm for the K-9 unit. In the past Organizations have purchased bullet resistant vests for the K-9 across Kansas and now the American Humane Society is ensuring all the K-9 units in Kansas have Heat Alarms to make sure our K-9 partners are safe. Ask any K-9 out there and they will tell you that the job can get "ruff"
