The City of Abilene will once again be blocking off Northwest Third Street from Mulberry Street to Pine Street from 6pm to 8pm tomorrow. Have a safe and happy Halloween from the Abilene Police Department!

After a seven year hiatus, U.S.D.#435 and the City of Abilene teamed up to revive the School Resource Officer Program. If you see SRO Kobiskie today, wish him a happy first day back at school!

Beginning tomorrow, school zone lights will begin flashing across Abilene. Please slow down and obey the flashing lights.

Abilene sustained a fair amount of tree damage during the storms that passed through earlier tonight. If you encounter a downed power line or large limb in a roadway, please contact the Dickinson County Communications Center at 785-263-1212.

Just a reminder....fireworks can be sold/possessed in Abilene between June 27th-July 4th. Fireworks can only be discharged from 8am to midnight on July 1st-July 4th.

A big thank you to Shopko for donating several stuffed animals to our "Bears on Patrol" program. The stuffed animals will be partnered with patrol officers to be distributed to children dealing with traumatic situations.

Exciting news from Dickinson County Crime Stoppers!

***Street Closure Notification*** Starting at 8:00am on Thursday, March 15th, Northwest 14th Street will be closed from North Mulberry to North Vine for street repairs. A marked detour will be in place. Plans are to have the repairs completed and the street reopened by mid-day Friday, March 23rd.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation of the following Aggravated Assault: On Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 at approximately 9:00pm, a motorist traveling northbound in the 3300 block of Rain Road was approached by a second vehicle also travelling northbound. The second vehicle pulled beside the motorist and fired what appears to be a single shotgun round into the motorist’s vehicle. The second vehicle continued northbound on Rain Road following the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Captain Jerry Davis with the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office at (785)263-4081 or Crime Stoppers of Dickinson County at 1-888-5DK-TIPS.
