Ghouls, goblins and candy are right around the corner! Be safe this Halloween, community. HPD will have extra officers on patrol to assist with helping our children have a great time. The City of Herington does not have specified times for trick or treating. But, one good "rule of thumb" is to only allow your children to go to homes that have a porch light on. Happy Halloween!

Good evening Herington! This is just a reminder about the meet and greet for the new Fire Chief and Police Chief at the Community Center on November 1st at 7 PM. Hope to see you there!

Good morning Herington! This is Chief Hornaday. About a week ago, the dedicated officers at the Herington Police Department began "Operation Kickout". It will be a long-term operation dedicated to "kicking out" the wolves that have plagued our community for way too long. Last night we began the first phase. At approximately 7:30 PM we executed search warrants at 215 South 9th Street and 217 South 9th Street. During the searches, we located methamphetamine, paraphernalia and multiple items that were stolen from several Herington residents in the recent past. There are several items located that we believe are stolen that we will be posting in the near future for possible identification. Upon completion of the search warrants, both properties were condemned by the city due to their uninhabitable condition. We are currently searching for Ronald Lee Pierce Jr. in reference to this case. He is wanted for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Paraphernalia and Possession of Stolen Property. If you see him, or know his whereabouts, please contact us immediately. Any person who assists him in avoiding arrest may be criminally charged. I assure you, the officers who work for you are very capable and committed to stopping the illegal drug activity in our community. But, we need your help. If you have any information related to the illegal drug activity that is taking place, please contact us. Every piece of information we receive helps build the evidence we need to get the job done. If you would like to send us a tip anonymously, call 1-888-5DK-TIPS, use the P3 Tips Mobile App or submit a tip at p3tips.com. You may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
