We are expecting our first snow fall this afternoon. Please slow down and allow more distance between you and the car in front of you. Please give plenty of room to the snow plow drivers, tow truck drivers and police to safely do their jobs. Thank You.

PO Thomas was excited to attended the opening night reception of the Tim Murphy Art Gallery and peruse the art on hand for this series which runs from November 1 to December 1.

The Merriam Police Department wishes everyone a fun and safe Halloween tomorrow night. Please watch out for all the little goblins and gouhls in our neighborhoods. When you see one of your officers patroling your neighborhood, stop and talk to them. They may have some treats to hand out.

We hosted a DEA Drug Take- Back Initiative event at Walgreens last Saturday and collected 112 POUNDS of unwanted and expired medications!! If you missed the event, we have a bin available year round in the front lobby of our station. It is accessible Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm.

Thank you Gladis Person of Olathe, KS for bringing by photo bears to the Merriam PD which was was a very kind gesture and much appreciated!

Thank you to PO April Gebke and CSO Jaime Brokaw for their participation in the 2018 Guns and Hoses charity boxing tournament. The money raised goes to SAFE (Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund). This fund benefits surviving family members of Police and Fire Fighters who are killed in the line of duty. Great Job!

PO Vincent was specially requested to read to a third grade class at Merriam Park Elementary School when the class earned a reward for the completion of a class project. CORRECTION - The reading took place at Crestview Elementary School, though PO Vincent visits both schools regularly.

We stopped by “Merriam Drive Live!” At the Merriam Marketplace. Great live music and activities for kids. It goes til 5pm today and is free! Come on by!!

Everyone was okay, but PLEASE slow down in wet conditions. You can't drive the same way you do in perfect conditions and expect to have the same control over your vehicle. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
