The Valley Center Fire Department would like to announce that we have recently taken delivery of a set of new TNT extrication equipment. These types of tools are used to gain access and extricate patients that are trapped inside of vehicles after a vehicle collision. The $22,000 equipment purchase was made possible through donations made to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Grant program at local area Firehouse Subs restaurants. Valley Center Fire Department was one of five fire departments from the state of Kansas to receive a grant from the Public Safety Foundation for various types of equipment this year. The new extrication equipment will replace an older set of tools that are approximately 20-25 years old, while also increasing the response capabilities of the fire department. This will allow the fire department to better serve the citizens of Valley Center and northern Sedgwick County. We are extremely grateful and appreciative to Firehouse Subs and all of those who donate on a daily basis to their Public Safety Foundation.

As Fire Prevention week draws to a close, the Valley Center Fire Department would like to thank the teachers and parents who helped make this a successful Fire Prevention week. Elementary students from Wheatland, West, and Abilene schools all learned how important it is to be aware of your surroundings at all times. During this week, firefighters also took an opportunity to read to a group of children at the library.

You have one hour left to come see us! Meet some firefighters, climb in the trucks, get a snack and some goodies for the kids.

Tonight is our last night for Fire Prevention Week 2018 Open House. Come join us between 6pm and 8pm.

Last night at open house, Tanner Smith and Ryan Williams were presented with a certificate of appreciation for starting up the hydrant painting program while serving WEBELOS Pack #481. A special thanks to Lorrie Aamodt, Susan Brillhart, Darrin Fracer, and Marshal Smith for leading the WEBELOS Pack #481

The Valley Center Fire Department kicked off fire prevention week yesterday, with this years theme " Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. fire can happen anywhere." The students of Wheatland Elementary did a great job learning that is important to be aware of their surroundings!

During Fire Prevention Week members of the Valley Center Fire Department travel to our public schools spreading the message of fire safety and prevention. Everyone is invited to an open house at the Fire Station between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8th thru Thursday, October 11th. We encourage our citizens to come and get to know your local firefighters, tour the station, and ask us questions. We have brochures for adults and for the children, snacks, fire helmets, balloons, and coloring books. We are located at 616 E. 5th Street at the Public Safety building if you would like to attend.
