DATE: October 31, 2018 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA RELEASE On 10/30/2018 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sgt. Johnson was dispatched to Carquest for a report of theft. During the initial investigation Sgt. Johnson and Detective Lamatsch determined that Yardmaster also had items taken and a suspect was identified. The suspect was located at her residence in the 400 blk of Harrison and arrested for Theft. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and the items were located. A second search warrant was obtained and during this search drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. Jesse Fenton, 27 of Hugoton was arrested on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of drug paraphernalia. Tonya Batey, 43 of Hugoton was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft. Mr. Fenton and Ms. Batey are currently being held at the Stevens County Jail and affidavits have been forwarded to the Stevens County Prosecutor.

October 30, 2018 PRESS RELEASE Quick action by two City of Hugoton employees help minimize damage caused by a fire. At approximately 9:00 a.m., Kenny Burrows and Chris Crawford were in the 800 block of Jackson and saw a vehicle under a carport on fire. They quickly used their pick-up to pull the vehicle on fire into the roadway to prevent the fire from spreading to the home. The Fire Department and Police Department were dispatched to assist. There were no injuries however; the vehicle is a total loss. Hugoton IS a great place to call home. #cityofhugotonemployees #hugotonproud

DATE: October 22, 2018 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA RELEASE ARREST Hugoton man arrested on drug and other charges. On 10/18/2018 Master Patrol Officer Perry Crane initiated a traffic stop at 2nd and Jefferson. Detective Matt Lamatsch assisted and during the investigation of the stop the driver, identified as Clarence J. Eves, 51 of Hugoton was arrested on charges of Possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, habitual violator, driving while suspended, no liability insurance, and illegal registration. Mr. Eves is currently being held at the Stevens County Jail and an affidavit has been forwarded to the Stevens County Prosecutor.

DATE: September 10, 2018 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA RELEASE On 08/27/2018 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Detective Lamatsch, Corporal Fedelin, Master Patrol Officer Crane and Officer McCann executed a search warrant in the 600 block of South Jackson Street. During the search, officers discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the residence. Charges have been forwarded to the County Prosecutor for possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and aggravated child endangerment on the occupants of the home, Mary Asbury, 38 of Hugoton and Richard Leadbetter, 50, of Hugoton.

The Hugoton Police Department would like to thank Dave Robson for assisting Corporal Fedelin last night. Cpl. Fedelin was attempting to arrest a suspect and he began resisting and a struggle ensued. Robson stepped in and assisted Cpl. Fedelin until backup arrived. Thank you to Mr. Robson for stepping in and doing the right thing and assisting to ensure the safety of the officer.
