Subject is a suspect of several break ins in the Morehead Road/Secrets Crossing/Bluebank Area. The Fleming Sheriffs office is cautioning motorists about the winter storm approaching the county today. A mix of ice and snow is predicted for the area which will make travel conditions very difficult. Travelers who must be out are urged to use caution and allow extra travel time and keep an eye out for any stranded motorists that need assistance. Travelers should be aware of any downed power lines and tree limbs with the incoming icy conditions. The Sheriffs Office will be available for assistance if needed by contacting the Sheriffs Office or Fleming County Dispatch at 606-845-2121.

At this time road conditions are EXTREMELY dangerous and Fleming County has been declared a snow emergency level 2: roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. A level 2 advisory is only motorists whose travel is necessary should be on the roadways. There have been numerous accidents and we are urging everyone to stay off the roads. Travel should be used if only necessary. This is a day to stay in with your family and stay safe. Officers are out and working, should you need any Emergency Assistance, such as medical, etc., contact dispatch @ 606-845-2121. Again, please stay inside and off the roads if at all necessary. Your safety is our upmost priority.

The Fleming County Sheriffs Office would like to thank all state and county road crews for their help and assistance today. A special thank you to James Endicott with the state highway department for helping us at Goddard and Spice Lick Hill near the Rowan County line where numerous cars and trucks were stranded for several hours. Roads continue to remain slick this evening, please use extreme caution tonight and into the early morning hours.

Fleming County is under snow emergency level 2: roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and roadways may be icy. Advisory: Only motorists whose travel is necessary should be on the roadways, residents are urged to contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Fleming County Schools have been closed Wednesday January 22, 2014.

Roadway conditions at noon continue to worsen as snow continues to fall. Windy conditions are causing snow drifts on the roadways causing white out conditions. Motorists who have to be out is asked to use extreme caution. Please stay in unless travel is absolutely necessary. The Fleming County Sheriff and Deputies have assisted close to 50 people this morning who were stuck on the roadways. Officers will continue to be out for your assistance if you become stranded. Call 911 for an emergency, non-emergency 845-2121 for dispatch. Pictured below are roadway conditions on Highway 32 around noon.

Please use extreme caution if it is absolutely necessary to be out during these extreme low temperatures. Due to the bitter temperatures with power outages, or medical emergencies we will be available for assistance. Currently we are having some phone issues but you can call Fleming County Dispatch if you are not able to get us and they will radio our office. We do not encourage people to be out unless it is absolutely necessary. Conditions are predicted to continue to worsen as the day goes on through tomorrow.

ATTENTION The Fleming County Sheriff's Office has been notified that someone has been contacting people in the Hillsboro area asking for solicitations for the Hillsboro Fire Department. THIS IS A SCAM! The number that will appear on caller ID is 502-442-7042; if you should receive a call from this number please contact the Fleming County Sheriff's Office at 606-845-4701. At this time the Hillsboro Fire Department is not involved in any solicitation of monies.

The Fleming County Sheriff's Office would like to take this time to thank each and every Veteran, retired or active, for their service to our country. We would also like to thank our very own Tim Smith for his continued service.

Trick- or- Treat has been moved to Friday night 5:00 to 7:00 due to weather.

The Fleming County Sheriff's Office began tax collection on October 1st for 2013. If you have not yet received a tax bill you may contact the Sheriff's Office at 606-845-4701 or the PVA Office at 606-845-1401. Please note the change this year of the 2% discount amount which will be from October 1 to October 31. The months of November and December will be face amount and no penalties; this gives the tax payers an extra month at face amount. After January 1, 2014 penalties begin to accrue. If you have any questions feel free to contact The Sheriff's Office during the hours of 8-4:30 Monday-Friday. There is also a drop box located at the basement entrance of the court house for after hours payment.

***UPDATE***After further investigation into the subjects soliciting blacktop services..... these subjects are wanted in surrounding counties for scamming individuals. Please use extreme caution if having to deal with these individuals and contact the sheriff's office immediately at 606-845-4701.

***SCAM ALERT*** JR Asphalt/Tom Riley, out of Ohio, is in the county soliciting money for blacktop service. Was reported in the Greenbrook area today. Please remember that services should never be paid for upfront, services should be completed first. Should you be approached by this gentleman/company, contact the Fleming County Sheriff's Office at 606-845-4701.

I would like to thank everyone who has taken time to remember me and my family during the loss of my father-in-law Harold D McIntyre Jr. To all the first responders at the accident, to the phone calls, cards, food, prayers, our community's out pouring of support during this difficult time will never be forgotten.

Update: The Fleming County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the home invasions that occurred last week in Fleming County. At this time we have located the vehicle we were looking for in Montgomery County. Officers continue to investigate and are working with authorities in Bath and Montgomery counties. Officers have recovered items from the vehicle they were looking for that link the possible suspects to Fleming County. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office currently has individuals charged in their burglaries, and officers are interviewing individuals at this time in connection with the burglaries here in Fleming County. We would like to thank everyone for any and all information that has been given to our office. We continue to ask if anyone has any additional information, to please contact our office.

The Fleming Co Sheriffs Office is asking for the publics help in a rash of home invasions in the past 24 hrs. There have been 3 homes broken into in the Hillsboro area. Deputies are looking for a small green pickup that has possibly been seen around two of the break-ins. There has also been a break-in on Martha Mills Road and Buchannan Road near Cowan. Most of the break-ins are occurring in the daytime. Anyone with any information are asked to call the Fleming Co. Sheriffs Dept. at 606-845-4701 or Dispatch at 606-845-2121.
