Children's safety is a top priority for us at the Taylor Mill Police Department. Below you will find an information sheet on Kentucky's School Bus STOP Law. Please review it and make yourself aware. Officers of the Taylor Mill Police Department will be monitoring the school buses in our community and they will stop and issue citations to drivers who fail to follow these laws. Again, if you are stopped for this violation, you will receive a citation! This is the only school bus violation warning you will receive.

UPDATE: The roadway is open at this time. Please avoid the area of Pride Parkway between Mason Rd and I-275 while officers are working a serious traffic crash. The roadway will be closed in the area. Please find an alternate route.

Dog Attack On Thursday, July 12, 2018, at approximately11:50 PM the Taylor Mill Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of St. Matthews Circle in reference to a dog bite. Prior to officers arrival, the call was upgraded to an active dog attack. Upon arrival, officers could hear a subject yelling from the rear yard of the residence. Officers were directed to the rear yard by one of the residents of the home who had called 911. As officers made their way to the rear yard they encountered a male subject laying on the ground being attacked by a pit-bull. Officers yelled at the dog at which time the dog released the male subject and charged officers. One officer discharged his firearm striking and killing the pit-bull. Officers then got the male subject medical aid and located another female victim inside the residence who had also been attacked. Both subjects were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment. Both subjects received serious but non life threatening injuries. This incident remains under investigation by the Taylor Mill Police Department.

The Taylor Mill Police Department Explorers attended an Explorer Academy hosted by the Alabama Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association in Montevallo, Alabama. This training and classroom lecture covered various law enforcement related topics such as de-escalation, domestic violence, crime scene processing, DUI Investigation, Team Building, Traffic Stops, and many other courses. There were a total of 57 Explorers from Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana in attendance for this six-day academy which was held on the campus of the University of Montevallo. Under the direction of Lt. James Mills and Specialist Heather Mitchell, the Taylor Mill Police Department had four explorers attend the academy. Colin Parsons Colin was a fourth-year academy participant and was considered part of the youth staff for the week. Colin recently graduated from Scott High School and will be attending the University of Kentucky. Sebastian Jacobs Sebastian is a First Year Explorer and First Year Academy attendee. Won Top Shot for first-year attendees. Sebastian attends Dixie Heights High School. MaKayla Pollard MaKayla is a First Year Explorer and First Year Academy attendee. MaKayla is a student at Simon Kenton High School. Brayden King Brayden is a First Year Explorer and First Year Academy attendee? Brayden recently graduated from Dixie Heights High School.

You can pick them up via the police department lobby starting tomorrow, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 between the hours of 9am and 5pm. The City of Taylor Mill presented the Gordon L. Johnson Distinguished Public Servant Award posthumous to Cody J. Kledzik at the May 9, 2018 City Commission Meeting. The Gordon L. Johnson Award honors excellence in the field of volunteerism and loyal service to the City of Taylor Mill. The City of Taylor Mill has significantly benefited from Cody J. Kledzik’s years of volunteerism to the Taylor Mill Police Department’s Explorer Program and his overall dedication to the Taylor Mill Community. Cody’s footprint will be forever imbedded in the Taylor Mill Community, where his legacy lives on. A special thank you to Cody’s mother, Jamie Fata, and his family for accepting the award.

News Release – Immediate On May 2, 2018, at approximately 6:30 pm, Taylor Mill Police responded to a fatality auto accident that occurred on East I-275 at the Kenton County and Campbell County border. At present time the accident is under investigation by the Taylor Mill Police, in conjunction with the Kenton County Accident Reconstruction Team, along with oversight and direction from the Campbell County Commonwealth Attorney, Michelle Snodgrass. Taylor Mill Police are requesting anyone who may have witnessed this accident to come forward and contact us as soon as possible. Initial witnesses indicate that a vehicle operated by Megan Ritter of Kenton County Kentucky was broken down, located in the emergency lane of the bridge that spans the Licking River. Moreover, witnesses state that a second vehicle driven by Erin Weil of Campbell County Kentucky was traveling in the right lane when she left her lane of travel due to stopped traffic. Thus causing her to collide with Mrs. Ritter’s broken down vehicle in the emergency lane. Mrs. Ritter’s four-year-old son, Dawson Elder, died at the scene as a result of the collision. Four accident victims required medical treatment, where some were transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and others to Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky and their extent of injuries are unknown at this time.

The Taylor Mill Police Department is aware of a post circulating on social media as it relates to the death of a dog. There was no collar that would identify the dog and it was not microchipped. The police department is currently investigating the situation and anyone with information is asked to call the police department.
