Benton-Birmingham Road is closed between Eggners Ferry Road (E. 12th Street) and Benton Briensburg Rd (Dump road). State Highway Dept have put up barricades and closed the road. Do not drive around the barricade's, tickets are not cheap and more importantly lives can not be replaced. Please share and spread the word. (Sgt. Treadway)

This is Halloween, this is Halloween 🎶🎵🎃💀. Happy Halloween everybody, and now this song will be stuck in your head all day 👻. Keep the "Tricks" to a minimum today, or we'll hand out "Treats" in the form of a Uniform Citation 😂. J/K!

Many kids will be out trick or treating tonight. Please use extra caution driving around. There will also be several congested areas especially the Merrywood and Bent Creek Dr area. Parking on the street is always a concern. Please leave enough room for emergency vehicles to be anle to get thru if they have to respond for some type of emergency.

On Monday 10/29/2018 around 9:00 P.M., Officer Caleb Curtner conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for not having any working tail lights. After a roadside investigation, David S. Hoffmeyer was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense, Possession of Open Alcoholic Container in a Motor Vehicle, and No Tail Lights. He was taken to the Marshall County jail.

On Monday October 22, 2018 Sgt. Treadway conducted an active shooter presentation for the employee's of Heritage Bank . Sorry we were not able to get any picture's at the time. We would like to thank Heritage Bank for reaching out to us to help provide some training that we hope will never have to be used.

******* UPDATE. ******* The person in the photo has been identified thanks to some loyal follower's. Sgt. Treadway spoke with her today, 10/22/2018 and was able to close his case. Sgt. Treadway needs your help in identifying this woman. He needs to locate her so he can have a discussion about how it is not nice to take things that do not belong to you. Guthrie (KY) Police Chief Matt Humble has passed away after losing his battle with cancer. He had previously served the citizens of Marshall County as an officer with the Calvert City Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with his children, family and department. Rest in Peace Sir.

On Monday 9/24/2018 dispatch received calls of a possible impaired driver around 2:20 P.M. Officer Caleb Curtner observed the vehicle on the south end of Main Street near US Hwy 641. He obtained probable cause to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. After a roadside investigation and field sobriety test, Stephanie M. Dodd (Murray) was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense, Expired Registration, No Registration Receipt, and Reckless Driving. She was lodged in the Marshall County Jail. All arrestee's remain innocent until proven guilty in court.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Duane Hawes, who passed away this afternoon. Hawes was a long time firefighter with the Benton Fire Department, and former Emergency Management Director for Marshall County. He devoted his life to public service, and will truly missed by our community.

In regards to our last post, Ms. Redden and her three grandchildren were found safe. Thank you all for sharing our post.

*** All have been found safe*** The Benton Police Department is asking for your assistance, in locating 81 year old, Mattie Redden and her three grandchildren. Ms. Redden was last seen in Lake City, KY at around 9:00 a.m. Redden is driving a red, 2010 Toyota Camry. The vehicle has a large dent in the front driver's side bumper. Redden is in the company of her three grandchildren, 12 year old Christian, 10 year old Braylon, and 7 year old Karlie. At around 9:00 a.m., Redden was last seen traveling on US HWY 62, headed back to her address in Benton. This case was opened by Officer Caleb Curtner. On Thursday, 9-20-18, Captain Stephen Sanderson responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart. After further investigation Natasha Preston, 34, and Chad Hughes, 35, were both arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting). They were both lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Back around February 2018 Sgt. Treadway began working on a Homeland Security Grant for the purchase of an armored vehicle. Today the Benton Police Department was informed of the approval of that grant. BPD was awarded $280,000 to purchase a Lenco Bearcat G3 armored vehicle. Attached is the letter sent out and a picture of a vehicle (this is not an exact picture but is a model G3 taken from Lenco's website). The vehicle will have many uses and applications.We look forward to explaining more about it in the near future as it will take a few months to be built from the factory. Sgt. Treadway is away at training this week but will be glad to answer any questions or clear up any confusion or misunderstanding. On Sunday 9/09/2018 Officer Trent Weaver responded to the Fivestar BP at 5th and Main on a report of an intoxicated individual. Officer Weaver located Mr. Andrew D. Bennett (Hardin). After investigation, Mr. Bennett was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense- Aggrivating Circumstance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Marshall County jail. Officer Weaver was assisted by Deputy Josh Anderson from the Sheriff's Office.

On Sunday 9/09/2018 Officer Scott DeShields arrested Mr. Shannon J. Clark (La Center, KY) at Walmart on a Calloway County warrant for Failure to Appear in Court. He was taken to the Marshall County jail and was additionally charged for Promoting Contraband 1st Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense- Methamphetamine.

On 08/31/2018, Officer Caleb Curtner opened a theft case at at&t. The male suspect, pictured below, was seen on video stealing a phone. If you recognize the suspect, please contact our department or message us on Facebook. Thank you
