The Mercer County Sheriff's Office wants to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Harold Driskell. Harold lost his battle with cancer this week. He was a deputy with the Mercer County Sheriff's Office from 2011 until he retired in 2016. Prior to that Harold was a police officer at the Harrodsburg Police Department and a correctional officer at Northpoint Training Center. He was a great peace officer and friend and will be sadly missed. Funeral arrangements are Monday, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, from 9-2 pm for visitation and service will be held Tuesday at 2 pm. Please keep Deputy Driskell's family and friends in your prayers.

********** PRESS RELEASE *********** Deputies with your Sheriffs Office after following leads from the public arrested the two pictured fugitives. Jamie Williams was wanted on several outstanding warrants along with the Kidnapping investigation that occurred on September 17. Also, Deputies arrested Mark Francis for a Wanton Endangerment warrant. Both were lodged in the Boyle County Jail.

Mercer County Animal Control Office is searching for two dog houses for two large Husky. If anyone has a dog house they would like to donate please contact the animal shelter or Sheriff Kelty 859-265-1586

********** PRESS RELEASE ********** September 22, 2018 Deputies with your Sheriffs Office are investigating a shooting that occurred at 456 Manns Road. Through an investigation Richard Rowlette who resides at 456 Manns Road was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. Rowlette was lodged in the Boyle County Jail. The victim was transported to the UK Medical Center for treatment for his injuries. The case remains under investigation by Sgt. Matt Swabey.

********** PRESS RELEASE ********** Your Sheriffs Office along with the Mercer County Crime Stoppers are searching for Jamie Williams. Mr. Williams is pictured and is currently a wanted fugitive. Williams has active warrants already for methamphetamine and heroin possession. A situation occurred September 17 at around 2pm in the Cornishville Road and Oakland Lane area of Mercer County. As a result of that investigation, Williams is now wanted for Kidnapping, Assault 2nd Degree, Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (on foot), Leaving Scene of Accident/Failure to Render Aid and Criminal Mischief. Anyone that knows the whereabouts of Williams are urged to contact their local law enforcement, our office at 859-734-4221 or Sheriff Kelty at 859-265-1586. The Mercer County Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward for the arrest of Williams. Anyone found to be in aiding or assisting Williams evade law enforcement will be charged with Hindering Apprehension.

********** PRESS RELEASE ********** Sheriff Kelty is happy to report that George Vaughn of Harrodsburg has been sentenced to 42 months in FEDERAL PRISON related to an investigation started by your Sheriffs Office. The investigation was turned over to the ATF (Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms) who presented the case to the United States Attorney's Office.

It's that time of year again! Welcome back to school kids, parents, teachers, staff, bus drivers and anyone else I've failed to mention. I understand the first morning of school traffic went well despite the rain. I am sorry I was unable to be out there to help direct traffic and greet you all this morning but my wife, Missy, is having back surgery today. I will be with her the rest of this week but I will be out there next Monday morning bright and early to help direct school traffic. Please remember to watch out for our deputies directing traffic this year and Remember Right is Right. ***** PRESS RELEASE ***** August 5, 2018 Your Sheriffs Office is asking for the public's help with possible information. We are investigating a theft from the large 127 yard sale site located in McAfee. A vendor reported that a male had stolen a rare piece of hardware and fled the area on foot. A witness to the theft attempted to get the registration number on the getaway vehicle but was unsuccessful. The male was described as a white male, 30-40 years old. Driving a gray Chevy truck with possibly a blue or black stripe along the bottom. The vehicle was parked near the entrance/exit for a quick getaway. It's that time for students selling educational books....Mr Makita Vlassenkov has registered with the City of Harrodsburg/Mercer Co Sheriff and will be selling books door to door.

Deputies with your Sheriffs assisted by officers from the Harrodsburg Police Department arrested three people after a string of events this morning. Deputies located Daisy Bradshaw at her residence after investigating tips about narcotics trafficking. She was arrested for Possession Controlled Substance 1st and Drug Paraphernalia. Roy Miller was also arrested from her residence and charged with Possession Controlled Substance 1st. Jeffrey Cole Carmickle was located at a homeless camp behind the housing authority. While deputies were trying to serve an outstanding warrant on Ol’ Cole he decided to run. With the assistance of deputies, HPD officers, housing authority maintenance and that dog that came out of no where, we were able to get Cole back into custody. Deputies with your Sheriffs Office along with Officers with the Harrodsburg Police served several warrants on Wednesday. Deputies went to a residence on Countryside Drive in an attempt to locate Vance Webb and Tiffany Varvel. Prior to knocking, deputies overheard the pair talking in the garage. Upon knocking, the pair refused to open the door. Deputies were then assisted by HPD officers and entry was forced into the residence. It was discovered that the individuals had gained access into the attic, crossed over above the neighboring duplex and entered that residence without permission. They then attempted to exit out of a window and escape. Arrested was Vance Webb, Tiffany Varvel and Michael Tyler. This is Max. Max is the son of one of our deputies, Wes Gaddis. Max had a lemonade stand during his families recent yard sale. Max told his parents he wanted to help other kids have toys for Christmas! Wow! He met with Sheriff Kelty to donate all the proceeds to our Shop with a Hero program for Christmas. July 18, 2018 Operation Midnight Run Your Sheriffs Office continuing it's fight against the counties number one problem conducted an undercover operation. This operation consisted of deputies conducting drug buys on individuals that you the community alerted us too. Yesterday, the Mercer County Grand Jury handed down the following indictments: Heather Demaree - Trafficking Controlled Substance Matthew Shannon - Trafficking Controlled Substance Angelia Eades - Trafficking Controlled Substance Christopher Maddox - Trafficking Controlled Substance Heather King - Trafficking Controlled Substance All individuals are from Mercer County. Additional charges could be placed on the above offenders after testing is completed by the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab. Additional indictments from this operation will be brought to the next grand jury of Mercer County for potential indictment after the investigations are completed. July 18, 2018 Deputies with your Sheriffs Office conducted an investigation yesterday that resulted in five (5) arrests. The investigation began after receiving a tip for a welfare check. Deputies seized narcotics and cash from Scott Johanson's apartment on Tyler Avenue. Mr. Johnanson was charged with Possession Controlled Substance 1st (meth) and drug paraphernalia. Also arrested inside the apartment were Jade Adele Revell from Louisville, she was charged with an outstanding parole violation warrant. Nicole Jennings from Louisville was charged with a flagrant non-support warrant being $13,000 behind in her child support. Michael Robbins of Danville was also charged with a flagrant non-support warrant for being $2900 behind. And finally Shaunda K. Brown, she was charged with Trafficking Meth. Once at the jail, jail staff located an estimated 13 additional grams of methamphetamine concealed in her person. Jail staff charged Ms. Brown with an additional Trafficking Meth and Promoting Contraband charge.
