The Pike County Sheriff's Office is attempting to identify the person pictured, in reference to an incident on 10-20-18 @ approximately 3:30pm, in which a school bus was taken from the Pike Co Board of Education bus lot and later found abandoned. Pike County Sheriff’s Office K9 Copper has received donation of body armor Pike County Sheriff’s Office K9 Copper has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest was embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of K9 Rocco, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police”. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c(3) charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The non-profit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over 3,100 protective vests in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million dollars. The program is open to dogs actively employed in the U.S. with law enforcement or related agencies who are certified and at least 20 months of age. New K9 graduates, as well as K9s with expired vests, are eligible to participate. The donation to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K9 is $950.00. Each vest has a value between $1,744 – $2,283, and a five-year warranty and an average weight of 4-5 lbs. There is an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States. SCAM ALERT Several callers have reported to the PCSO that an 800 number has called their home and reported to be a representative of AEP. The caller advises that the bill is passed due and unless payment is made over the phone, service will be cancelled. AEP is not calling to collect bills and will not call to collect passed due bills over the phone. Once again, do not give ANY of your personal information out over the phone. Also, if you have elderly family members, please remind them to not give any of their information out to callers.

The Pike Co Sheriff's Office has received several calls today stating that the individual received a call from someone claiming to be an employee of the Sheriff's Office and informing them they have warrants. The Sheriff's Office WILL NEVER call your home to tell you that you have a warrant or that you can pay to have it taken care of over the phone. You should NEVER give any of your personal information out over the phone to anyone. There are computer programs that allow individuals to make it look like they are calling from local numbers.
