2ND DISTRICT FISH & WILDLIFE COMMISSION MEMBER NOMINATION MEETING: NOV. 8...
A meeting to receive nominations for the second district member of the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Commission (board) will be held at 7:30 pm (Central time) on Thursday, Nov. 8 in Muhlenberg County at the Merle Travis Music Center, 750 Cleaton Road, Powderly, KY 42367. The second district includes these counties: Allen, Butler, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, Logan, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Simpson, Todd, Union, Warren, and Webster.
Residents of the second district may participate and be nominated to serve a 4-year term on the Commission, if, for the past 2 consecutive years in Kentucky, they have either: been licensed to hunt or fish, or hunted or fished but were not required to purchase a license. A list of the 5 nominees receiving the most votes will be submitted to Governor Matthew Bevin, who shall appoint the Commission member from this list. Appointees are subject to confirmation by the Kentucky Senate.
The 9-member Commission helps to provide oversight of the Department of Fish and Wildlife, including hiring the Commissioner (department head) and recommending actions to advance the mission of the agency. The Commission also receives public input on fish, wildlife and recreational boating issues, and meets quarterly to consider changes to regulations and statutes pertaining to the conservation of fish and wildlife resources and their uses in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
