SHOOTING AT FARMERS NEAR BINGO HALL ON JULY 2, 2018:
As most of you are aware by now Rowan County Deputies John Holbrook and Steve Justice, along with Rowan County EMS responded to a call concerning two people being shot near the Bingo Hall last Monday night. The victims were located and removed within minutes and the suspect was believed to have retreated back inside his residence. Morehad Police Department Officers & Kentucky State Police Officers responded to assist. With the aid of their MRAP vehicle the Morehead Police Department SRT was able to safely extract the suspect from his residence.
I want to say a personal thank you to MPD Chief Derrick Blevins for having the foresight to form a Special Response Team and obtain the MRAP vehicle, without this team and this vehicle the task that night would have been much more difficult.
Special thanks to MPD SRT members Ben Castle, Paul Thomas, Derrick Howard, Josh Ison, Pat Smith, & Chris Waltz who removed the suspect from his residence.
Thanks to Rowan County Tactically Trained Medic, Jarred Gillam for being right in the thick of things as SRT members took action.
Thanks to Kentucky State Police Detective, David Zimmerman and KSP Sgt. Toby Gardner for their assistance that night.
Thanks to Darryl Glover and the Farmers Fire Department for their assistance at the scene.
I know there were other MPD officers, KSP officers, & Firemen present and helping that night that I havent named, thank you for your assistance.
The work and cooperation of first responders in this county is absoulutely amazing regardless of the patch they wear on thier sleeve. I have always been, but once again want to say that I am proud to call Rowan County my home.
The two victims remain hospitalized in serious condition and I would ask everyone who reads this to please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
