3 new packaged backpacks where located behind a building on Greenland Park Circle. It is suspected that the items may be someone's missing delivery. If you were expecting a delivery of 3 backpacks, please contact the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and ask for Major Hettinger. Verification of the order will be required to pick them up.

Today the Shelby County Detention Center unveiled a monument honoring two Jailers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. May they never be forgotten.

Routine traffic stops are not always routine. On 06/20/2018 Sergeant Tipton conducted a traffic stop for a seat belt violation that turned out to be much more. Once the operator of the vehicle was identified, it was discovered that his license was suspended and there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The operator was placed under arrest. Continued investigation resulted in property from multiple burglaries including jewelry; power tools and two firearms were recovered. The suspect is a convicted felon and was charged with following: Failure to wear seatbelt, operating on a suspended license, receiving stolen property firearms, receiving stolen property and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The RTTW (Ride To The Wall) will be coming through Shelby County today. They will be traveling I64E and making a fuel stop in Waddy. We expect about 500 motorcycles to make their way through at about 10:15am this morning. Will be escorting the event in attempt to keep everyone safe. Please be patient if you plan to travel I64E during this time.

🚔 Scam Alert.....We have received reports of a person(s) making calls representing the local Sheriff and Judges. During the call they will advise you that because you missed Jury duty a fine is owed. They will tell you failure to pay that fine will result in a arrest warrant. Instructions will be given on how to purchase a prepaid card and provide the numbers to pay the fine. The call is FALSE and is in no way how the court system or the Sheriff’s Office operates. We will never call you in an attempt to collect a fine. Please disregard these calls and hang up the phone immediately.

On 5/12/18 at 0837, 1st shift patrol was dispatched to the soft ball field at the Shelby Co Park for a suspicious vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle parked behind the concession stand. Deputies arrested two suspects for multiple items of paraphernalia, illicit drugs and burglary tools. Recovered property includes items taken during a burglary in Franklin Co and thefts from Wal-Mart in Frankfort. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office extends our Sincerest Condolences to the Staff of the Shelby County Detention Center and the family of Sergeant Georgina Knott. She will be missed but not forgotten.
