Oakdale Police Department News

Working together with Mayor Gene Paul and the City Council, Chief Lockett purchased two 2018 Ford Explorer's. This is something we have been needing to get done. This is an example of our Citizens tax dollars working for them. These units will be used for everyday patrol. Chief Joseph Lockett, Sr.

Highway 10 East going out of and into Oakdale is closed due to powerlines and trees down.

Its Homecoming week here in Oakdale. There are some using paintball guns. This along with eggs and shaving cream destroys peoples property and has caused injuries to others and will not be tolerated. Parents have to pay for damages to others property if your caught, not you. Parents can help with this and speak with your child about damaging others property. We will be looking for children who are out to destroy. Welcome to the Alumni and Geaux Warriors.

On October 12th 2018 Detectives with the Oakdale Police Department spotted a wanted Felon "Byron Neal Cohea" traveling North on Hwy 165 coming into Oakdale. Detectives attempted to stop the vehicle Mr. Cohea was driving, at that time Mr. Cohea lead Officers out of town at a high rate of speed on La Hwy 10 west, before reaching Sam Cloud Road, Mr. Cohea produced a handgun and fired at Officers before proceeding onto Sam Cloud Road. Mr. Cohea lead Officers at a high rate of speed, ending the pursuit at a hunting club gate. After a short foot pursuit into wooded area officers were able to detain Mr. Cohea without further incident. Once back to the vehicle Officers learned that Mr. Cohea had his wife and 3 year old child in the vehicle with him, neither were injured. The gun was recovered in the woods by the vehicle. Mr. Cohea has several felony warrants by different agencies in the State.

On October 11th 2018 Oakdale Police Department received a call from Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. Detectives spoke with the stores Asset Protection Department and was informed that an employee was stealing money and merchandise. Further investigation revealed that Joshua Blake Holland and Brandi Nicole Perkins both of Pitkin, La. had stolen in excess of $2,700 from Wal-Mart. Both Mr. Holland and Ms. Perkins were booked into the Oakdale City Jail for LA R.S. 14:67.3 Felony Theft.

On September 29, 2018 at approximately 0800 hours, Isaac Harris was arrested in the area of W. Jackson st, in Oakdale, La. Mr. Harris has been around the area of Oakdale and Oberlin selling plate lunches for a fund raiser. Mr. Harris has accepted money for numerous plate lunches without producing any meals. If anyone has purchased a plate lunch from Mr. Harris and would like to write a statement please notify Oakdale Police Department. 318-335-0290 Its sad to have to do this but if anyone approaches you and wants to sell you something, you can call the local Police, we will come and verify if the fund raiser is valid.

On September 15, 2018 at 0538 officers responded to a call of a Blue F150 chasing and shooting at two females in a Maroon Jeep in Glenmora. The victims pulled into the Exxon Station in Oakdale and the Blue F150 was spotted by Ptl. Robinson south bound on US Hwy 165 near Autozone in Oakdale. Suspect refused to stop and both officers gave chase. Reaching speeds in excess of 90mph, chase ended near Oberlin. Driver, Patrick Anderson from Lake Charles, La. was arrested on Aggravated Flight from an Officer and booked into the Oakdale City Jail. Investigation is ongoing and charges are pending from Glenmora Police Department.

Today we was able to get some " Active Shooter" training in at the Oakdale High School. We were able to contain two shooters within minutes of receiving the call. Thanks to Brad Soileau for allowing us to participate and work with the facility in this excersize, also for the Oakdale Fire Dept for their response and working so well to set up perimeter and assist with injured personnel. This is something we look forward to continuing in order to keep children and school facility in our community safe.

Oakdale Police Department received a report of a truck missing at Walmart. After further investigation Investigators learned the subjects left a vehicle in the parking lot broke down and stole a truck that was left by a plant worker in Walmarts parking lot. After making contact with the owner of the vehicle left we learned that she was in Lake Charles, La at the OCS . Investigators went to that location and spoke with Ms. Kelsey Monceaux of Sulphur, La. Ms. Monceaux gave up the location of the stolen truck and OPD took possession of the truck and released it to its owner. The second suspect, Dakota Langley was arrested shortly after by Sulphur Police Department. Property that was taken from other vehicles at Walmart was also recovered. Thanks to Kinder PD, Lake Charles Pd and Sulphur Pd for their assistance with this matter. Investigation is ongoing.

Truck stolen from Walmart between 4:30am and 5:10 am. 2008 Chevrolet 4 door Louisiana license plate # B973217. There is a dent on the bed of the truck, driverside, gold "O" on top of back glass and a sticker that's says "simp" on the rear window passenger side. If anyone has any info on the truck or spots it please call the Oakdale Police Department.

Schools will be starting back this Friday, August 10th, everyone please be careful driving down our roads, children will be walking to and from schools and buses will be on the roadways again. Hope all the kids and faculty have a safe year.
