Sheriff and Governor Honor Mexican Officials and Others for Case Assistance East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, along with Louisiana Governor John Bell Edwards and other law enforcement leaders, honored officials integral in locating and apprehending Oscar Lozada for the 2011 murder of his wife Sylvaine Fink and the rescue and safe return of her now 12-year-old daughter at a reception yesterday at the Governor’s Mansion. In a gathering that included the Governor of Coahuila and other Mexican officials as well as Drug Enforcement Agency representatives, the Sheriff and Governor presented vital case participants with plaques of appreciation. “I think this gathering is an impressive showing of collaboration and cooperation across not only state lines, but across national borders,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said. “Without the assistance of these men and women I doubt Lozada would be in prison awaiting trial today; nor would Angelina be home safe with her mother’s family in Belgium. I’m honored to thank these individuals for their commitment to global public safety, child protection and justice. It makes me hopeful for future partnerships.” The following officials were honored at the reception: Miguel Angel Riquelme Solis Governor of Coahuila Eduardo Olmos Castro Coahuila State Sub-Secretary Yezka Garza Ramirez Licenciada, Procuradora State of Coahuila Family Protection Services Matthew G. EBRSO SEEKING TO IDENTIFY SUSPECTS FROM FIGHT AT FAIR Deputies were working extra-duty security at the State Fair Saturday night at approximately 9:45 when they were called to respond to a fight. Deputies located the fight within minutes and received information from the victim as to what occurred. The woman said she was standing in line for a ride when another woman cut in front of her in the line and was joined by friends. The victim said a verbal altercation ensued about cutting the line, when the woman that cut in front of her hit her. The victim’s boyfriend (while holding her child) then attempted to defend her at which time the perpetrator’s friends began hitting him. Deputies arrived on scene approximately two and half minutes later. When the perpetrators heard security responding, they fled the area. Deputies took a description of the perpetrators from the victim, but were unable to locate them among the thousands of fair patrons (approximately 14,000 attended fair on Saturday).
