REMINDER: Parking lot closure The commuter parking lot behind Theatre West will be closed from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 to accommodate those attending the Teacher Job Fair. The Job Fair is being presented by the Office of Counseling and Career Services in the Student Union Ballroom.

Earlier this afternoon University Police apprehended a suspect who has been sought in connection with an ongoing investigation. The individual did not cause any threat to the campus or surrounding community.

Parking lot closures for March 20 University Police will close parking lots near the WRAC Tuesday, March 20 to accommodate guests attending the ceremony to rededicate the WRAC in memory of former NSU President Dr. Randall J. Webb. The parking lot in front of the WRAC will be closed, as well as the parking lot across the street between the WRAC and the Print Shop. Both will be closed all day. The dedication program will begin at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

NSU Police will hold active shooter seminars University Police at Northwestern State University will host an active shooter seminar, Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE), Tuesday, March 6 and Wednesday, March 7 in the ballroom of the Sylvan Friedman Student Union. The seminar is one hour long and will be presented consecutively from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. both days. The seminar is free for the university community, according to Director of University Safety Jon Caliste. “The course is in-person instruction that will help provide participants with the basic tenets of options to deal with a violent aggressor,” Caliste said. Expect road closures Saturday for Dragon Boat Races Because the Dragon Boat Races will take place on Chaplin’s Lake, please take note of road closures this Saturday, March 3. Beginning at 6 a.m., South Jefferson will be closed from Caspari Street to Central Avenue (Tennis Courts). Barricades will also be placed on the perimeter of South Jefferson and the large Prather Coliseum Parking Lot (Spirit of Northwestern practice lot) where vendors and other attractions related to the Dragon Boats are set up.

The parking lot at Theatre West will be closed from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 to accommodate those attending Grad Fest and Career Day in the Student Union.

University Police would like to inform the campus community that a number of law enforcement personnel will be on campus Monday, Feb. 5 through Wednesday, Feb. 7 for a course being taught on campus in Kyser Hall. A portion of parking lot #25 near Kyser Hall will be reserved for officials attending the training, so students who use that lot should plan accordingly.

In regards to the incident on the morning of 1/21/18 involving an altercation, University Police have investigated the incident and during the course of the investigation it was determined that the incident was strictly a medical emergency and not an altercation. This morning an individual reported to NSU police that he was walking from Frog Pond apartments to University Columns, when he was approached by two male subjects wearing dark colored hoodies. The individual reported that an altercation occurred. Police are investigating. Please be aware of your surroundings when walking. Walk with friends. Be observant when exiting or entering vehicles. STREETS NEAR CAMPUS WILL BE IMPACTED BY RAILROAD REPAIRS A railway contractor will start work Wednesday on crossings along eight streets in the city of Natchitoches. Impacted will be Union Pacific Railroad crossings along Sylvan Drive and Amulet, Bossier, Hill, Jefferson, Rowena, Second and Trudeau streets. That means motorists who use those crossings will need to find alternate routes between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Roadsafe Traffic Systems has told city officials. No completion date has been determined. "The City of Natchitoches appreciates the public’s patience while these improvements are being made and reminds everyone to please drive with caution near the construction site," says a notice from the city.

FYI IF SOMEONE IS STILL LOOKING FOR THESE: Keys found on the 3rd floor of Kyser Hall on Monday October 23rd. The key ring has a Minnie Mouse Hand Sanitzer Holder, American Eagle and Beauty Mart rewards card, Parish Library card and several keys. You can come to Room 318 in Kyser Hall to claim.

Road closure In order to prepare for SAB’s Halloween Carnival this evening at 6pm, part of Sam Sibley Drive in front of the Student Union will be closed starting at 4pm. The Student Union Circle as well as the post office will still be accessible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

FYI in case anyone is still missing these: Keys Found A student found a set of keys outside the elevator on the 3rd floor of Kyser Hall. The key ring has a gray fob, a keychain with the name Jamie on it and several other identifying key chains. The keys were found this morning and delivered to me before 10. The keys are in room 318 of Kyser Hall.

Key found outside Caspari A key on a ring with a Brookshire’s card attached was found outside of Caspari and turned in to the College of Business & Technology Office in Russell Hall Room 201 this morning. If this key belongs to you, you may pick it up in room 201 of Russell Hall.

We would like to thank Trinity Episcopal Preschool for having us over last week to talk to their kids about safety. The kids were "sworn in" as Junior Officers, learned about safety, who to trust if you need help, and got to check out the police cars and gear.

PARKING UPDATE Per University Police the Russell Hall parking lot is now a faculty and staff parking lot only. This is the small parking lot directly in front of Russell Hall. Students need to access the parking lot directly across Central avenue.

Parking Lot Closure Tomorrow September 15 The Faculty/Staff Creative and Performing Arts parking Lot and the Commuter parking lot across the street from the Creative and Performing Arts building (Lot 11 ) will be closed tomorrow for the Investiture Ceremony. FYI PARKING LOT CLOSURE NEXT WEEK: On September 19 there is lecture in Keyser Hall with guest speaker Leah Chase. The parking lot on the south side of Kyser Hall near the Post Office across the street from St. Denis Hall, will be reserved for guests attending the lecture. The lot will be closed from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
