This morning there was a great loss. Mrs. Mabel Smith passed away. She was a magnificent person and will be missed. She did many things in her lifetime and truly built a legacy. She was 100 years old and made every minute count. I am sure that those who know her know the teacher and mentor she was. Mrs. Smith changed lives and I love her and will miss her. Please keep her family and friends in prayer and take comfort in knowing that she is without a doubt in heaven.

"Rest In Peace Sergeant Travis Lowe End of Watch 1/17/2018" Ball Police Department would like to extend our hearts and prayers to the family of Sgt. Lowe and the Alexandria Police Department for their loss. I would ask that all keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Happy New Year ! I hope everyone has a great holiday and fantastic year.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas from Ball Police Department.

Well if your dreaming of a white Christmas, then this is a Louisiana one this morning. Rapides Parish Schools are closed today. If your out and about please stay cautious on the roads and let’s keep everyone safe. Enjoy the weather because in Louisiana when you blink it will change. Have a great day and be safe.

Great morning for Santa to fly in to The Town of Ball for a visit. Thanks to Acadian Ambulance Air Med and pilots for flying him in. Great day for a flight.

Update- The power has been restored and phones are back up. I apologize for any inconvenience, we did the best we could for what we had. I will work to find a better back up option for the phone lines should this occur again. Thank you. Original Post - Town of Ball, if you have a need to call the police department tonight you will need to call 911. The Police Department was not made aware of electrical maintenance this evening and the building including the police department is without power, since our phone system is computer based it is not working and the line is out. We were not allowed any notice to find an alternate option and we appreciate your patience and understanding. A post will be made when power is back up and we are back to full function. Thank you.

Yesterday was the ribbon cutting for the Paradise Elementary Project. We have been working on this for a few years now. It started with Former Mayor Dean and I talking with Mr. Moreau with the Police Jury and Mr. Barios with the School Board and finally it is complete. This will improve the safety of the children going to Paradise Elementary and improve the safety of everyone on U. S. Hwy 165. I also want to thank Carrie Robinette who was working at the Rapides Area Planning Commission at the time for staying on top of this and being diligent in her work. Wednesday the school will start using the new road. The traffic for morning drop off and pickup will go down Paradise Road and turn onto Laura Ave. Thank you to the community for your patience and support and to all the government, school, and community partners that helped.

Happy Thanksgiving ! There is a lot to be thankful for today. Let’s thank God for what He has Blessed us with and for the people He has put in our lives. Have a great holiday with your family and friends. Be safe and make great memories that you can look back on. God Bless You All !

Officer Mackey one of our motor officers had a good time at the Tioga High School Homecoming Parade this past Thursday. He always makes time for the little ones.
