PONCHATOULA, LA (11/7/18)- On the night of November 6, 2018, Ponchatoula Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to use a turn signal. During the traffic stop, officers found one of the rear passengers, Christopher Bridgewater, to be unresponsive. Hammond Police officers were also on scene as Ponchatoula officers called for assistance from the Ponchatoula Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance. Bridgewater was transported to North Oaks Medical Center for further treatment, where he later passed away. The Coroner’s Office is awaiting results from the toxicology report and currently investigating the cause of death. The driver, Yvette Dickens, was issued a citation for failing to use a turn signal and the other two passengers were booked on outstanding warrants. April Mosely was booked on 19 counts Failure to Appear and Leo Dickens Jr. was booked as a Fugitive of another Jurisdiction and turned over to the Hammond Police Department.

**ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE** In the early morning of November 4, 2018, an altercation involving multiple individuals took place inside of the Ponchatoula Pub. This altercation led to Robert Bowers (7/7/72) being struck by two individuals identified as Azia Crockett (2/4/91) and Ryan Anthony (8/14/94). Bowers became unconscious and began receiving immediate medical attention from a Ponchatoula Volunteer Fireman until Acadian Ambulance arrived on the scene. Bowers was transported to North Oaks Medical Center and then later transported to University Medical Center where he remained on life support until he lost his life on November 6, 2018. Crockett and Anthony have both been charged with 1 count each of Felony Manslaughter. Both individuals turned themselves into Ponchatoula Detectives, were booked on the charges, and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

UPDATE- Ponchatoula detectives have been in contact with both persons of interest from this incident. They are identified as Azia Crockett (2/4/91) and Ryan Anthony (8/14/94). Both parties have been cooperative with detectives during this process. Charges will be considered at the completion of this investigation. The latest reports reveal that the victim, Robert Bowers, is still in critical condition at University Medical Center. Detectives welcome any other information that the public may have regarding this incident. —————————————————————— Chief Layrisson is asking for the public’s assistance regarding an incident that occurred a little after midnight on the morning of November 4, 2018 at the Ponchatoula Pub. On this date, a physical altercation took place inside of the bar in which one individual was left unconscious. The victim immediately received medical attention from a Ponchatoula Volunteer Fireman until Acadian Ambulance arrived on the scene. PONCHATOULA, LA (October 24, 2018)- Chief Bry Layrisson announces the arrest of Jocorian Cyprian (11/16/99) and Devin Mitchell (6/1/94) for their involvement in a drive-by shooting that took place on October 21, 2018 around 12:00 in the afternoon. On this date, three individuals were leaving the Discount Tobacco Store on E. Pine Street when they noticed that a vehicle was following them. They proceeded to a residence on Saxon Street and parked the vehicle. At this time, the suspect vehicle pulled beside the three victims and began firing multiple shots at the vehicle from an assault rifle and drove away. One of the passengers was struck and treated for minor injuries. No other passengers were injured. Through investigation, PPD detectives learned that this incident seems to be a result of an altercation that occurred the previous night with the same individuals. Detectives were able to identify the driver of the suspect vehicle as Devin Mitchell and the shooter as Jocorian Cyprian. Devin Mitchell was located at a residence off of Hwy 51 North and taken into custody on October 22, 2018. At the time of his arrest, officers conducted a search of the vehicle that was involved in the shooting and located a handgun and several narcotics. Mitchell was booked on the following charges and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail: 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Drugs, and Possession of a Firearm While Possessing CDS. Jocorian Cyprian turned himself into officers and was booked on 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

Cyprian is wanted for 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder from an incident that occured on October 21, 2018 about 12:00pm. An arrest has been made on another subject involved in that incident- Devin Mitchell (DOB 6/1/1994). Mitchell has been charged with 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Drugs, and Possession of a Firearm while Possessing CDS. He is wanted for Attempted Second Degree Murder from an incident that occured on October 18, 2018, around 11:45pm in Ponchatoula. OPERATION SAFE TRACK 🛤 Our officers are participating in the Operation Safe Track campaign this week as it is National Rail Safety Week. Tomorrow, 9/25/18, Officers will be closely monitoring railroad crossings and handing out information cards to the public about railroad safety. Just a reminder, NEVER stop on the railroad tracks.

Officer Bankston, Officer Small, and Sgt Schliegelmeyer spent their Saturday at the Survive the Drive event hosted at SLU which was a fun and engaging event aimed at informing young drivers of the consequences of the choices that they make. Thanks to TRACC and SOAR for hosting this event.

Ponchatoula Police Department will be participating in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" DWI campaign from August 17th- September 3rd. Officers will be focusing on extra city-wide patrols as well as participating in joint-agency checkpoints. We want to do all that we can to keep our citizens safe!

PONCHATOULA, LA (July 2, 2018)- Chief Bry Layrisson reports that detectives are actively conducting an investigation after a shooting occurred on Sunday morning around 1:30am at Club Strawberry located on SW Railroad Ave. One individual suffered a non-life threating gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to North Oaks Medical Center. If anyone has any information about this investigation, please contact the Ponchatoula Police Department at 985-386-6548. You may be eligible to receive a cash reward.
