Handlebar? Fu Manchu? Goatee? Full on mountain man beard? The possibilities are going to be endless this November as we participate in No Shave November for the 3rd year in a row. As in the past, our charity is Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program. Please see the link below for charitable donations to this great cause. All officers/staff that are participating will have to make a donation to this worthy cause in order to throw out their razors. https://because.massgeneral.org/fundraiser/1691842

Never too early to plan, it’s Halloween month after all! Please see and share the following in regards to trick or treating in Town.

I hate to have to post this, but we have had several elderly members of our community fall victim to another SCAM! We try and educate our banks, we try and educate our elderly through TRIAD and Manchester Council on Aging, but here we are again: If you get a phone call, telling you a loved one is in jail, and they need CASH to be bailed out, HANG UP. First, if they really are in jail, its their own fault and let them learn a lesson 👮‍♂️😂 Second, no one, and I mean NO ONE in law enforcement will ask you to mail cash to bail them out. It just isn't how we do things! 🤔👮‍♂️ NEVER, EVER, EVER mail cash! Once it leaves Manchester, it is extremely hard, if not impossible to get it back. Please share with your family, friends, co workers, & loved ones!

Recent #tweet from Chief Ed Conley. He’s absolutely correct; issuing tickets isn’t our favorite thing to do. Maybe not even in the top 10. However, it’s important to keep our community and children safe. #doyourjob

With School back in session, we will be conducting localized traffic enforcement deployments. Please be forewarned, slow down, buckle up, and as always, operate safely!

Very cool video of a small shark caught on our Harbor Cameras last night.

In the Viral words of Carly Rae Jepsen - "Hey, I just met you and this is crazy, But here's my number, so call me maybe" It is so important to call us when you think a crime is or about to be committed. Several times over the last few days people have called hours after an event took place to report it. Whether it was a suspicious person, a suspicious act/event, or vehicle out of place; the common theme was "I didn't know if I should call". If you have a feeling something isn't right, or out of the ordinary, or obviously criminal, CALL US. 978-526-1212 or 911 in an emergency. We are here 24/7, waiting and honored to serve.

Yesterday, a woman came to the station to report being victim of a text message scam. She received a text from whom she thought was her boss. The person knew her name, her bosses name, and where she worked. She was convinced to purchase $1,000 in iTunes gift cards. Moments after making the purchase and sending photos of the cards to the scammer, she had realized she had made a mistake. Immediately upon making the report, we attempted to recover her money, which proved to be extremely difficult/impossible. Apple was unwilling/unable to just mark the cards as stolen or "scam" when we called and identified ourselves as Law Enforcement investigating a crime. Also, where she purchased the cards (a local supermarket) started they were unable to provide any assistance either. Luckily, we got creative and were able to recover "some" of the money to this person. Remember, it is extremely difficult for us at Manchester by the Sea Police Department (Official)to investigate these types of things. Often times its an international crime organization. What's the best way to avoid being scammed? If someone contacts you to purchase gift cards, wire money,or transfer money, and you think something is off, STOP! Call us, and we will provide guidance before it is too late.

We are always looking for new recruits! Tonight, young Nolan here was brought to the station to see his God Father Officer Richard. His dad Pat brought him in for a tour to see his cousin the Police Man. Nolan isn’t sure yet if he wants to be a fireman or police man, so we pulled out all the stops on the tour to convince him!
