Storm Update: We do have numerous trees down in the city due to the short but powerful storm that came through the city. Please call dispatch to report any roads blocked or hazardous conditions at 978-983-8698. Tyler St. in the area of 220 Tyler St. is currently closed due to a large tree blocking the roadway. There are also power lines down in the area. Please seek alternate routes and avoid the area if necessary. We have two power outages in the city. One on the West side of the city (in the area of Tyler St.) and one on the East side of the city in the area of Howe St. According to National Grid, restoration time is around 2 hours. DO NOT TOUCH ANY POWER LINES ON THE GROUND. Please call 911 if you see power lines or any hazardous conditions. Joe Solomon

POWER OUTAGE! We have received a report of a power outage in the Broadway Street area by the Lawrence line. National Grid is on scene. The cause of the power outage is unknown at this time but is being investigated. Approximately 200 Methuen customers are affected. Estimated time of restoration is 10:00am. Joe Solomon

This event was held June 2018 at Wamesit Lanes by Cops for Kids with Cancer to raise funds for Families.Methuen Police showed support by bringing "Hope" our Pink Cruiser, our Vintage 1972 Polara, and our K9 Rumi. JULY 4TH FIREWORKS - This years Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration will be held at The Loop, 90 Pleasant Valley Street, on Tuesday, July 3rd (Rain Date Thursday, July 5th). Entertainment begins at 7:00pm and includes Live Concert by Overdrive, Face Painting, Balloons, Photo Opps with Superheros and much more. Methuen Police Respond to Barricaded Suspect

Methuen Detectives execute a search warrant on College Lane residence after barricaded subject incident this morning. In the early hours on the morning, Methuen Officers attempted to locate the subject and arrest him on active warrants. Upon arriving at the residence, the subject barricaded himself in the attic of his home. NEMLEC SWAT teams arrived shortly thereafter, attempted to communicate with the subject, to no avail. NEMLEC SWAT Teams were able to apprehend the subject, in the attic, with no injuries to anyone involved. Press release is forthcoming. Joe Solomon

UPDATE! Barricaded subject has been taken into custody. All agencies and officers involved are uninjured. Thank You for staying away from the area as officers setup their perimeter and remained engaged in the scene. Happening NOW! #Methuen MPD serving warrant on wanted male. The male fled to the attic and barricaded himself. Happening now on College Lane in Methuen. SWAT arriving. Though there is no danger to the public, Chief Solomon asks all to please remain away from the area as this is a fluid scene at this time and Officers’ focus needs to be on the residence and subject inside. UPDATE! Methuen Animal Control has still not been able to locate the owner of the dog in the picture below. At this time she is still in the custody of Methuen Animal Control. Tomorrow, Thursday, June 21, 2018 will be the end of her 10 day stay hold. If there is anyone who has information about this dog, where she belongs, or would like to inquire about her, please contact Animal Control at 978-983-8670. #Methuen Animal Control is looking for the owner of the dog below. The #Methuen Police Department Honor Guard marched in the Bunker Hill Day Parade this past Sunday, June 10, 2018. The Bunker Hill Day Parade is a tradition that dates back to 1786, commemorating the first major battle of the American Revolution. The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on Breed’s Hill in Charlestown on June 17, 1775. The Bunker Hill Day Parade is always held the Sunday before or on June 17th. Officers Lascola, Farelli, Ramirez and Tarness marched in the parade which began on Vine Street and ended on Winthrop Street by the Charlestown Militia Training Field. Following the Special Olympics Cruiser Convoy to Harvard University on Saturday, Methuen Officers Havey Jr and Pekarski joined hundreds of other Officers from across Massachusetts in the Special Olympics Summer Games. The Athletes definitely gave our Officers a run for their money and all had a fullfilling fun time. This included races, weight lifting competitions, sports and the like. 👮🏻‍♀️💙🚓🏃🏻‍♀️ Joe Solomon

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, #Methuen Officers participated in the Massachusetts Special Olympics Cruiser Convoy #CruiserConvoy2018 in support of the Special Olympics Summer Games. The Cruiser Convoy is the largest and most anticipated single-day event on the Law Enforcement Torch Run Calendar and enhances Massachusetts largest Special Olympics athletic event. Police Department convoy groups from all over the state left from 6 rally points statewide, converged at Boston College Law School before continuing on to Harvard University where they participated with Athletes 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ in the Summer Games. Officers Greg Pekarski and Mike Havey Jr represented Methuen Police at this event and had a great time supporting local athletes, running races and relays and talking with Athletes and their Families.
