Agawam Police Department News

National Coffee with a Cop day is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between law enforcement agencies and the public. The day began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October furthering efforts nationwide to bridge the gap between the community and the law. “Coffee with a Cop is community policing at its core. The simple act of having a cup of coffee with community members can be the first step in increasing trust and cooperation between the police and the people they serve,” said former COPS Office Director Ronald L. Davis. This year’s event is set for Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. Please come out and join us, 9am-11am at Giovanni's Italian Pastry Shop, 719 Main St., Agawam.

TRAFFIC ALERT – Agawam is currently experiencing high volumes of traffic today due to the Big E. We are experiencing delays on Springfield St, Main St, Suffield St and Rt. 5. The Police Department is working hard to ensure a safe flow of traffic through our town. Please plan your travel accordingly and plan for extra time.

Just a friendly reminder that this Wednesday, Sept. 19th is Connecticut day at the Big E. It also coincides with a day off from some Connecticut and Longmeadow schools. We are expecting large volumes of traffic on the roadways accessing the Big E. We will have traffic details out in full force at the involved intersections and roads throughout town. Please plan your travel accordingly and allow for extra time if you do have to go that way.

***Update: Lights are back on*** The traffic lights at Feeding Hills Center are not working. Please use caution when traveling through there, as there are officers directing traffic in the intersection. Crews are working to repair the issue but it may take some time.
