Press Release Wilbraham Police Department 2780 Boston Road Wilbraham, MA 01095 Phone 413-596-3838 Contact: Captain Edward Lennon Posting: Saturday – June 2, 2018 8:00am Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash On Friday June 1, 2018 at approximately 11:30pm the Wilbraham Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 934 Main Street in Wilbraham regarding a motor vehicle crash with injuries. Responders located two vehicles which had been involved in a collision. Each vehicle had a single occupant. A male from Hampden and female from Hampden were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The male was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. The female is reported to be in critical but stable condition. The crash is being investigated by the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Wilbraham Police Department.

Looking back on this anniversary of the Tornado of 2011

Today is our day. National Donut Day! It only comes around once a year, but we feel it should be celebrated every day. A day to celebrate that round little package of puffy soft deliciousness. Happy National Donut Day!! Please celebrate responsibly. On a side note, many of us do not partake but we all get a free pass today!

Today WPD says goodbye to one of the most likable guys on the force. Ofc Chris Letendre began his career in 1992 with the Palmer Police Department, transferring to Monson in 1995 and beginning his journey with WPD In 1996. Ofc Letendre served on the Eastern Hampden County Drug Task Force, the WPD/WFD Dive team, and was currently serving as WPDs court officer. Chris was an avid Scuba Diver and just a great guy. We’re gonna miss you Chris. We wish you a Happy and Healthy retirement! The memories are endless. Love u brother!

Just an FYI

Some Recent Arrests: On 05/10 at 12:33 a.m., a Wilbraham Officer stopped a vehicle for failing to dim its lights upon approaching another vehicle. The driver Analise Davis, 20 from Chicopee, had a warrant for her arrest and was taken into custody. On 05/11/18 at 9:58 p.m. the Wilbraham Police received a call from CVS that a shoplifter just took off on a bicycle. Police, with the help of an employee, were able to identify the suspect as Ricardo Caez 26 (homeless). A warrant for his arrest was applied for after officers failed to find him. A few days later a Wilbraham Officer observed him by Manny’s and placed him under arrest for the previous shoplifting warrant. On 05/12/18 at 0926 am, Wilbraham PD responded to the Home Depot regarding a theft scheme. After investigating, Nicholas Mallet of Indian Orchard and Brian Tougas of Springfield were both charged with 2 counts of Larceny under $1200 by false pretense, and 1 count of Larceny under $250 by false pretense On 05/13/18 at 0113 hrs Wilbraham PD responded to a MV accident on Cottage and Benton Streets. The vehicle was located off the roadway with extensive damage. Upon Investigating the crash, the operator Jason Butova of Springfield was summonsed for Negligent operation, speeding, and marked lanes. On 05/13/18 at 2139 hrs Wilbraham PD responded to CVS for a reported shoplifter. WPD subsequently located the suspect on Boston Rd and identified him as Ricardo Caez, (homeless). Mr Caez was placed under arrest for shoplifting and possession of class A (heroin). On 05/17/18 at 0929 hrs Wilbraham PD responded to a business on Boston Rd regarding an assault. Upon arrival WPD made contact with the involved parties. One subject was placed under arrest for domestic A&B. On 5-18-18 at 5:55 p.m. Wilbraham police stopped a Buick Lesabre due to its license plate being reported as stolen. Further investigation led to police locating Heroin and Cocaine. The operator, Michael Jude Brennan 34, of Palmer was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine , Attaching Plates to Conceal Identification as well as Larceny under $250 for stealing the plate. The passenger, Jeffery EJ Roberts 30 of Palmer had a warrant for his arrest and he was also charged with Possession of Heroin along with the Cocaine. On 05/20/18 at 0136 hrs, Wilbraham PD responded to a residence for a domestic disturbance. One male party was arrested at the scene. On 05/25/18 at 5:30 p.m. Wilbraham officers were given information that a Michael Courtney 22 of Chicopee had an arrest warrant out of Palmer Court. He was notified about the warrant. He voluntarily came into the Wilbraham Police Department and was arrested and booked for same. On 05/26/18 at 11:40 p.m. officers responded to a residence in Wilbraham for a domestic disturbance where a 26 year old male had assaulted his mother. He was arrested without incident. On 05/28/18 at 1846 hrs, Wilbraham officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Old Bay Rd. Upon making contact with the operator, officers observed drug paraphernalia along with narcotics in plain view. Duane Pierce of Monson was arrested for possession of class A heroin (subsq off) and possession of class B Cocaine (subsq off) On 05/28/18 at 2053 hrs, Wilbraham Pd was notified by Ludlow PD of an erratic operating MV which was being followed by a civilian. A Palmer PD officer subsequently observed the vehicle enter a driveway in Wilbraham. Craig Holmes of Wilbraham was subsequently arrested for OUI, 3rd offense, Negligent operation, Open container of alcohol, and resisting arrest.
