On November 4, 2018 the #Tewksbury Police Department arrested Matthew Merrick, 19, of 242 Foster Rd, Tewksbury for 2 counts of vandalizing property and for being a person under the age of 21 in possession of alcohol. The Tewksbury Police were called to the area of the Heath Brook Elementary School and Joanne Drive at 12:30 am for a report that a vehicle was tearing up the lawns, streets, and parking lot. Officers investigated and were able to identify witnesses who helped them locate the vehicle and the suspect. TPD47

Drug Trafficking Arrest On November 2, 2018 the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Stuard Hernandez, 21, of 624 Howard Street Apt. #1, Lawrence for trafficking heroin, over 18 grams and vandalizing property. Detectives conducted an investigation into a drug trafficker after responding to a non-fatal overdose. They were able to locate and identify Hernandez at the Town Place Suites while he was there attempting to deliver heroin. Detectives encountered Hernandez and were able to locate 23 grams of heroin. He was arrested without incident. While at the Police Station, Hernandez intentionally broke a sprinkler head inside the cell and caused water damage. He was charged accordingly. Vandalism Arrest - Serial Tagger On November 6, 2018 the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Joshua Chisholm, 29, of 221 Pawtucket Blvd, Lowell for 20 counts of vandalizing property and 2 counts of vandalizing a memorial. Since May of 2018 the Tewksbury Police Department has been receiving complaints of vandalism at numerous locations. The suspect has been defacing, either with spray paint or marker, bathroom walls, signs, park benches, light posts, dumpsters, electrical boxes and barrels as well as the 9/11 Memorial. After a lengthy investigation, we were able to identify Chisholm as the suspect. Once he was located, he was taken into custody. Chisholm is due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court on November 7, 2018 The Tewksbury Police Department urges any citizens who suspect criminal activity to call the Dispatch Center @ 978-851-7373. ⚠️ #Tewksbury TRAFFIC ALERT: Due to ongoing water main construction work near the center of town on Main Street (Route 38) between Pleasant Street and Old Boston Road, the current detour will be continuing Friday October 26 until at least November 2nd. All Northbound traffic on Main Street should follow the posted detour route via Pleasant Street to Marshall Street. Police details will direct traffic along the detour route. Southbound traffic on Main Street will be unaffected. Significant delays can be anticipated as a result of the detour and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes where available. The detour route will be implemented Monday through Friday from approximately 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. ***UPDATE: The suspect in this crash has been identified. At approximately 1:00 AM Sunday morning, our officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Shawsheen Street at Ballard Street in #Tewksbury. The vehicle had the fled the scene after causing significant damage to 2 properties, including a garage, fence, and large propane tank. Officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle, described as a large maroon SUV. If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact Tewksbury Police at 978-851-7373.
