Save the date! Coffee with a cop to be held on October 3, 2018 at Strong Style Coffee located at 13 Cushing Street from 8 am - 12 pm. This is an international event held all over the world. Feel free to stop in just to chat. No agenda, no pressure, just come enjoy a good cup of coffee with one of your police officers. Last Friday, the Fitchburg Police Department graduated four police officers from the State Police Academy in New Braintree. Congratulations to Officer Sarrah Wing, Officer Daniella Lopez, Officer Mark Kaddy and Officer Hiram Velazquez. Welcome to the Department!

Officer Lake of our Community Engagement Unit showed off his skills playing basketball. He stopped in to meet everyone from the New Patriot Veteran Outreach Center who had a community event at Crocker Park today.

Officers of the Fitchburg Police Department attended the Community Resource Fair at the Fitchburg Senior Center this evening. The team offered information on domestic violence and safety tips. It was great to meet so many residents!

Today, members of the Fitchburg Police Department joined the Fitchburg Fire Department and local community and civic leaders to remember the events on September 11, 2001. Our thoughts are with our fellow brothers and sisters in service in NYC, Washington DC and Pennsylvania as well as the families who lost their loved ones on this day 17 years ago. May we never forget.

Today, Chief Martineau, Lt. Howe and Mayor DiNatale visited businesses along Main Street and stopped at the Fitchburg Public Library where they met new friends. It was great to meet everyone!

Our School Resource Officers started school this week and enjoyed meeting all of the new students and seeing friends from last year, too! We look forward to a great, safe year at our schools and remind all of our parents, faculty, staff and students we are here as a resource.

Ride of Your Life 2018

Today, officers attended the annual Ride for Your Life, an event hosted by the Montachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force to raise awareness of suicide prevention and education. Officers from our motorcycle and community engagement units had a great time meeting participants and discussing gun safety. Today, we celebrated the completion of our Junior Police Academy. The recruit class began their day with a march from Crocker Field to Fitchburg State University where the graduation ceremony was held with family and friends. All graduate recruits received certificates of completion and a group photo with their recruit class. It has been a true pleasure to meet these amazing youth and we are proud of their accomplishment. We wish them all well as they prepare for the upcoming school year!

During today’s Junior Police Academy, Chief Ernest Martineau and Captain Matthew Lemay prepared lunch for our recruits. Following lunch, Mayor Stephen DiNatale’s Chief of Staff AJ Tourigny visited recruits and thanked them for their interest in civic service. Many thanks to all and to Juniper Farms for providing a cool treat for dessert!

Busy day today, Junior Police Academy visited by the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit. Learned all about the various duties the unit performs. Thank You Troopers.
