Our thoughts and prayers to the family of SGT. Ron Helus of the Ventura County Sherrifs Office. Nobody said the job was easy or safe, but he willingly served to protect the lives of others.

Chief Peck and SGT. Hastings participated with the Regional School Unit 9 School Safety Committee forum at Mt. Blue High School on Wednesday, Oct. 24 in order to discuss safety topics and procedures with the community.

On October 19th, 2018, Officers from the Farmington Police Department conducted an underage drinking enforcement detail. During the detail 4 minors were issued summonses for illegal possession of alcohol and 4 people were issued summonses for furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol. The Farmington Police Department conducts these details as part of the Enforcement of Underage Drinking Laws Grant funded through the Department of Health and Human Services. This grant is managed by Dirigo Safety, LLC and will be ongoing throughout the school year.

Congratulations to Officer Brandon Sholan for graduating from the 34th basic law enforcement training program of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy today. Welcome back Officer Sholan!

The Farmington Police Department received a sexual assault complaint on April 17th. As a result of the complaint, 40 year old Joseph Magee was arrested on April 19, 2018, charged with gross sexual assault. The victim in the case is known to Mr. Magee and is a juvenile. Mr. Magee was initially held without bail pending his court appearance today.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

On March 20, 2018 Officer Jacob Richards of the Farmington Police Department arrested Kevin Rennie 32, of Philadelphia, PA for Aggravated Criminal Invasion of Computer Privacy, a Class C Felony. On March 19th Officer Richards spoke with a customer of Tinny's Auto Outlet in Farmington who worked with Rennie to purchase a vehicle. During the transaction Rennie acquired her phone and proceeded to send himself nude photos of the client without her permission. He was arrested on the above charge and transported to Franklin County Jail where bail was set at $10,000. Rennie was not employed by Tinny's, he is a traveling salesman who works with a marketing firm hired to help with promotional events. Rennie has been trespassed from their property and Tinny's has severed ties with that marketing firm.

We now have a vehicle of interest in the burglary at the Maine Smoke Shop here in Farmington and at a gas station in Bar Harbor that occured on February 25, 2018. The male subject in the black jacket is seen on video in this red Prius at the Steamboat Landing in Bar Harbor.

The Farmington Police Depatment is seeking assistance identifying the people seen in these photos. They are wanted in connection with a burglary at The Maine Smoke Shop this morning around 12:45 AM. Several cartons of cigarettes were stolen during the burglary. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Farmington Police Department at 207-778-6311.

UPDATE: The man from the Walmart photo has been identified and arrested. Thank you to everyone who reached out and helped to identify him.
