With Winter weather quickly approaching ⛄️ we just want to remind everyone that the winter parking ban starts November 15th. No person shall park or permit a vehicle to remain parked, in any street of the City between 12:00 Midnight and 6:00 A.M. from November 15th thru April 1st. Thank you for your help keeping our streets open and safe so our snow crews can treat the roads properly.

Media Release On 10/07/2018 at approximately 10:15 PM, Officer Christopher Martinez pulled over a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction which resulted in the arrest of 3 individuals. Officer Martinez observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and following vehicles too closely on Water Street. He stopped the vehicle and determined that Lexi Van Winkle age 22 of Gardiner was Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence Alcohol, Officer Martinez placed Van Winkle under arrest. While attempting to arrest Van Winkle, Van Winkle’s two passengers Brittany Fagre age 20 of Vassalboro and Clara Alward Age 20 of Augusta emerged from the vehicle and obstructed the arrest by refusing multiple orders to step away from the officer and not to interfere while he was performing his duties. Lexi Van Winkle was arrested and charged with Violating Conditions of Release, Operating under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs (2nd offense) and driving without a license. Brittany Fagre and Clara Alward were arrested and charged with Obstructing Government Administration and Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention. Maine State Police assisted. All three were transported to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.

The Recreation area located off Town Farm Road will be closed for the season on Saturday, October 27th which is the opening day of the Maine rifle hunting season.

********* Vaughan Woods Homestead Parking/Safety Concern******** We have been dealing with an ongoing safety concern regarding the Vaughan Woods Homestead“Hobbit Land” we understand that this is a very popular hiking Destination, we ask that you utilize the provided parking area. ****** Parking Is not allowed on either side of the roadway****** As you can see in the picture below by parking in the roadway you are creating a substantial hazard, a two lane road has become one lane. vehicles parked on the roadway obstruct the lanes of travel and are creating a substantial risk of a motor vehicle crash, as well as violating State statutes and city ordinances for which vehicles may be towed at the owners expense. Our department is asking for your help in adhering to the specific parking area for the trails and keeping the roadways open to vehicle traffic. Our Officers will continue to enforce violations and in some circumstances will be towing vehicles. Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to keep everyone safe.

******Media Release******* On 8/16/2018 a motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of two individuals. At approximately 330pm Sergeant Jordan Gaudet stopped a motor vehicle for an obstructed registration plate violation. Upon further investigation the operator of the motor vehicle Victoria Truman age 37 of Belgrade was found to be a fugitive from justice and had an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of the state of Virginia for possession of a controlled substance. The passenger of the motor vehicle James Truman age 38 also of Belgrade was on Conditions of release from the court. During Sergeant Gaudet’s investigation he found .4 grams of Crack cocaine along with a glass pipe used for smoking the substance as well as illegally possessed Suboxone medication. James Truman was arrested and charged with two counts of violating conditions of release and two counts of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug.

Due to the events occurring on Saturday, July 21th. “Old Hallowell Day”, the following areas will be posted, “NO PARKING”; 1) Central Street from Water Street to Second Street from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 2) Both sides of Water Street from 5:00 AM until parade ending. 3) Granite City municipal parking lot at the boardwalk from Thursday At 10pm until Sunday 8:00 AM. 4) Municipal parking lot located on Water Street next to City Hall from Saturday 6:00 AM to Sunday 6:00 AM. All restricted areas will be posted, “NO PARKING”. Any vehicles parked in the restricted areas Will Be Towed at the owner’s expense. The Murderer of Corporal Eugene Cole has been captured. We refuse to speak his name or post any pictures of him, all pictures posted for the purposes of capturing him have been removed. Corporal Cole is this only person who deserves the HONOR and RESPECT of being remembered. This has been a terrible week for our Brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement, together we will heal and push forward as one. Rest In Peace Corporal Eugene Cole. We have it from here sir.
