A great reminder from our friends to the north. NEVER swerve to miss a deer, it commonly results in a much more serious crash. On another note, if you go to the link, Clinton County has 4 townships in the top 50 in the state for car/deer crashes reported! Another reason to always be alert and aware of your surroundings.

Just a reminder of this nationwide alert system testing that will occur tomorrow afternoon.

On September 14th, the Clinton County Sheriffs Office received a tip regarding a suspect in the home invasions that have been occurring throughout our county and surrounding counties. After some investigation it was determined that this subject was on tether and found to be a prime suspect. A warrant was obtained and the subject was arrested in Lansing without incident. A search warrant was also conducted and some stolen property was recovered. This investigation is ongoing. The Clinton County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the Bath Township Police, Tri-county Metro Narcotics Team and Clinton County Central Dispatch.

*****SPECIAL ATTENTION***** There have been multiple day time home invasions reported in Clinton County recently and we believe that these home invasions are being committed by the same person(s). These home invasions are occurring between 8:00am and the late afternoon and they are occurring on secondary roads throughout Clinton County. We are asking the public to be vigilant and pay close attention to their surroundings and if they see something suspicious to call 911 immediately. In addition, if someone comes to your door and they don't have a legitimate reason to be there or their story is not making sense, please pay close attention to what they are driving, direction of travel, and the physical description of the person(s) and then call 911 immediately. Thank you for your assistance.

Sheriff Jerue and the entire staff at the Clinton County Sheriff's Office would like to express our most heart-felt condolences to the Schueller family. Alexis Schueller lost her battle with cancer this morning. Alexis and her family had been adopted by our department last winter and participated in the Shop With a Cop program. Alexis may be gone, but she will never be forgotten as she made a profound impact on the staff here. Rest easy sweetheart.
