It is with regret and sadness that the Ingham County Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit shares the loss of one of our equine partners, Luciano. Luciano suffered from a medical emergency early Wednesday morning. Luciano was 25 years old, a Dutch warmblood, who has served the Unit for 5 years. Our thoughts are with the Mounted Unit, and with Luciano's owner and partner since Luciano was 4 years old, Special Deputy Rob Vanwessum.

Idle time is one of our biggest challenges at the Ingham County Jail. We are trying our best to give inmates options to fill that time, show off their skills, and be productive with their time here. The hope is that challenging them creates a better chance staying out when they get out. Here is some recent work done by a handful of inmates that is quite impressive. These messages are located in the hallway between receiving and the lobby.
