News Release October 15, 2018 Total: 84 Alarms: 4 Animal Control: 12 Traffic Arrests: 0 OWI Arrests: 1 Drug Arrests: 0 Warrant Arrests: 1 Animal/Vehicle Crashes: 3 Disputes: 1 Lewiston EMS: 5 Lewiston Fire: 0 Tri-Township EMS: 8 Tri-Township Fire: 0 Hillman EMS: 14 Hillman Fire: 2 Vienna Fire: 0 Canada Creek EMS: 0 Canada Creek Fire: 0 DNR FIRE: 0 October 8th 2:02 PM a deputy dealt with subject in Loud Township and Oscoda County who are having an on going dispute, subject were advised to stay away from each other. 5:00 PM Dollar General in Lewiston reported a subject that has been shoplifting from the store, 2 MSP Troopers responded to investigate the case. October 9th 5:48 PM Dispatch was advised of a accident in Freddie’s parking lot and is still under investigation. October 10th 9:10 AM Dispatch was advised of an alarm on Big Buck Dr in Albert Township. A deputy responded and investigated. All was found to be okay. 10:05 AM Dispatch was notified of an erratic driver traveling west bound on M-32 near Haas Rd in Avery Township. A deputy located the vehicle and made a traffic stop. All was found to be okay. 12:42 PM A deputy responded to a single vehicle accident on Ryan Rd near Mitchell Ln in Briley Township. No injuries were reported and a tow truck was called. 10:58 PM Dispatched received a call from a female requesting a tow truck for her vehicle that was broken down. LE was requested when the tow truck arrived on scene for possible intoxication. A trooper and a deputy responded to investigate. A 59 year old Lewiston female was taken into custody for OWI. She was lodged. All clear at 1:05 AM. October 11th 6:42 PM Dispatch was advised of a commercial burglar alarm on State St in the Village of Hillman. A deputies responded and found it to be a false alarm. All clear at 6:47 PM. October 13th 9:21 AM dispatch received a call regarding multiple horses loose and on their property in Briley Township, deputies responded, the owners of the horses were not home, deputies penned the horses and went back later to speak with owners. Investigation onging. October 14th 3:03 PM MCSO was advised that another jurisdiction had a subject with a warrant out of out county, a deputy transported subject to MCSO where he was lodged on his warrant.

All clear at 5:44 PM. 6:07 PM Dispatch was advised of a 27 year old male with an MCSO warrant in Alpena County. A deputy picked the male up and transported him back to MCSO. He was lodged. All clear at 7:21 PM. October 2nd 7:47 AM Dispatch was advised of a 2 vehicle accident on Co Rd 491 near M-32 in Vienna Township. EMS/Fire/LE responded. Drivers from both vehicles were transported to the hospital. No serious injuries were reported. All clear at 9:03 AM. 11:42 PM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on Co Rd 612 near Co Rd 491 in Albert Township. A 27 year old male was taken into custody for no security and OWI. He was lodged. All clear at 2:39 AM. October 3rd 3:18 AM Dispatch was advised of a 1 vehicle accident on Co Rd 487 near McMurphy Rd. LE responded and investigated. No injuries were reported. All clear at 4:26 AM. 3:30 PM dispatch received a call regarding a 2 vehicle accident in the Village of Hillman, no injuries were reported. October 4th 05:03 AM dispatch received numerous calls regarding trees and power lines down in Montmorency County, the Road Commission and Station 2 fire were a huge help in taking care of the problem 4:45 PM deputies responded to a residence in Albert Township, regarding farm animals at large causing damage to his property, deputies responded and owners of animals were given verbal warning to keep animals penned up. October 6th 12:00 AM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on Co Rd 489 near Big Wolf Lake Rd in Albert Township. A 51 year old male was taken into custody for OWI. He was lodged. All clear at 1:15 AM. 10:18 AM dispatch received a call from a duck hunter on West Twin Lake in Albert Township, he stated there were gun shots coming from a residence and they were very close to his location, a deputy responded and confiscated the weapon. October 7th 1:33 PM a deputy on routine patrol came across horses in the road on M-32 in Rust Township, he notified owner and they horses were put back in the fence. 2:19 PM a resident of Albert Township stated she has some MDOP to her yard on Saturday night, a deputy responded to the scene, the investigation is still open. 5:37 PM A 32 year old Atlanta with a MCSO warrant turned himself in. He was lodged.

September 29th 10:11 AM A deputy opened a larceny investigation in Briley Township. 9:21 PM A deputy was requested to Cobb Rd for the sounds of gun shots. It turned out to be someone shooting off fireworks.

Deputies started to respond but were cancelled by the alarm company who spoke with a home owner. Everything is okay. All clear at 5:22 AM. 12:14 PM A business in Albert Township requesting assistance with removing a subject from their premises, subject was found to be intoxicated, subject was arrested, and lodged for drunk and disorderly. 2:40 PM MSP contacted MCSO to advised us they and the FBI would be doing some explosive training in the Lewiston area, Lewiston Fire Department was on scene as well. 5:14 PM Dispatch was advised of a keypad distress alarm at Community Financial Credit Union in Briley Township. A deputy responded and investigated. The building was found secure and there were no vehicles in the parking lot. Appeared to be no one in the building. All clear at 5:20 PM. 6:15 PM A trooper initiated a traffic stop on Co Rd 491 near the Dollar General in Albert Township. A 47 year female was taken into custody for operating with a suspended license. She was lodged. All clear at 6:47 PM. 8:19 PM Dispatch was advised of a commercial burglar alarm at the Lewiston Historical Museum in Albert Township. Deputies responded and were cancelled. The alarm company advised it was a false alarm and no response was needed. All clear at 8:30 PM. September 18th 8:28 PM Dispatch was advised of a single vehicle accident on Co Rd 622 near East Branch Rd in Montmorency Township. A deputy responded and investigated. All subjects in the vehicle refused EMS and reported to the ER for minor injuries by personal vehicle. All clear at 9:32 PM. 9:47 PM Dispatch was advised of cattle in the middle of the road on Baker Rd. LE responded and managed to get the cattle out of the road and corralled back by the barn. All units clear at 10:38 PM. September 20th 3:05 PM Dispatch was advised of an erratic driver. A deputy responded and followed the semi for a while, driver appeared to be driving fine during that time. 6:59 PM Dispatch received a message from Macomb County stating they had a 28 year old female in their custody with a MCSO warrant. Deputies traveled to their jail and transported the female back. She was lodged. September 21st Dispatch received numerous calls about trees and power lines being down and in roadways throughout the day due to the wind. The road commission, PIE&G, and appropriate fire depts were all notified with each call. 3:33 PM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on M-32 near Currie Rd in Vienna Township. A 30 year old female was taken into custody for driving with no insurance. She was lodged. All clear at 4:12 PM. 8:32 PM Dispatch was advised of a suspicious vehicle parked on Austin St in the Village of Hillman. Deputies responded and investigated. The owner of the vehicle was located and transported to his residence. All clear at 10:53 PM. 8:38 PM Dispatch was advised of a suspicious vehicle at a residence on Co Rd 489 in Albert Township. A deputy responded and found the vehicle belonged to the people that also owned the home. All clear at 9:18 PM. 9:49 PM Dispatch was advised of a residential burglar alarm on M-33 S in Loud Township. A deputy responded and was cancelled after contact was made with the home owner. Deputy was advised the home owner set the alarm off. All is okay. All clear at 9:52 PM. September 23rd 2:07 AM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on Co Rd 612 near Meridian Line Rd in Albert Township. A 23 year old female was taken into custody for OWI. She was lodged. All clear at 3:15 AM. 12:22 PM A deputy picked up a 33 year male with a MCSO warrant in Albert Township. He was lodged. 5:39 PM A trooper initiated a traffic stop on M-33 S near Carter Rd in Avery Township. A 44 year old male was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license. He was lodged. All clear at 6:10 PM. 6:48 PM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on McMurphy Rd near Keego Dr in Avery Township. A 61 year old male was taken into custody for OWI and driving with a suspended license. He was lodged.

September 11th 12:34 PM A state trooper responded to a two vehicle crash without injuries in Atlanta. 4:41 PM an Albert Township citizen called 911 when she had a fire in her oven, Lewiston Fire and EMS responded along with MCSO deputies and a State Trooper, fire was put out without injury, all clear 4:47. 5:04 PM while on routine patrol MCSO deputies initiated a traffic stop on a male subject on a dirt bike, subject was found to be denied/revoked, subject was arrested and lodged. September 12th 08:00 AM a deputy went to Otsego County to pick up a subject with a warrant out of our county, subject was lodged. 09:34 AM a gas well employee contacted dispatch regarding equipment that had been stolen from a facility in the Albert Township area, MSP trooper is doing an ongoing investigation. 8:25 PM Dispatch was advised of an erratic driver on Co Rd 491 near M-32 traveling south bound in Albert Township. A deputy responded but what unable to locate said vehicle. All clear at 8:47 PM. 9:48 PM Dispatch was advised of a 1 veh accident on Co Rd 487 near McMurphy Rd in Avery Township. EMS and law enforcement responded. A 49 year old male was transported to the hospital for minor injuries and then was taken into custody for OWI. He was lodged. All clear at 12:56 AM. September 13th 1:04 AM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on Co Rd 612 near Mantz St in Albert Township. A 33 year old female was taken into custody for no security. She was lodged. All clear at 1:58 AM. September 15th 2:22 PM A conservation officer opened an illegal dumping investigation in Hillman Township. 8:33 PM During a traffic stop on Co Rd 491 in Albert Twp a 25 year old male from Interlochen was arrested for driving while his license was suspended. He was lodged. 9:08 PM During a routine traffic stop on State St in Briley Twp a 62 year old male was arrested for driving while his license was suspended. He was lodged. September 16th 12:40 AM Deputies responded to the A-Win-Sands Motel for two males fighting. Upon arrival a suspect was in the lobby and one had fled into the woods behind the motel and was later found by officers. A 30 year old male was transported to OMH by Tri Twp Ambulance for minor facial lacerations. Subjects were separated and no one wanted to press charges. 3:41 PM A deputy investigated an alleged hit and run crash without injuries in Montmorency Township.

Deputies responded and found everything to be okay. The cleaning person accidentally set off the alarm. All clear at 5:37 PM. September 4th 12:13 PM Dispatch was advised of a vehicle involved in an accident on M-32 near Veterans Memorial Hwy in the Village of Hillman. No injuries were reported. A deputy and EMS/Fire responded and nobody was transported to the hospital. All clear at 1:13 PM. 7:30 PM Dispatch was advised of a 41 year old male that was arrested and has a MCSO warrant in Lincoln Park MI. Deputies transported the male back to MCSO and he was lodged. September 5th 3:40 PM a resident of Vienna Township call 911 to report his sister missing, law enforcement responded, while they were in route the subject called back and stated he found her and she was fine, all units disregarded. 3:41 PM dispatch received multiple calls regarding a tree across County Road 491 in Vienna Township, a MCSO deputy responded to direct traffic and the Road Commission responded to move the tree from the road way. 5:55 PM a Michigan State Trooper responded to an alarm at a business in the Township of Hillman, building was found to be secure and Trooper cleared without incident. September 6th 12:26 PM dispatch received a call regarding a subject that had driven in the ditch between Hillman Tire and Dollar General, no injuries were reported, MCSO deputy responded without incident. 2:01 PM dispatch received a call the the Montmorency County Road Commission regarding a pickup truck that was left on the side of the road in Rust Township, the truck had apparently hit a tree, no one was in the vicinity of the truck, deputy responded the owner was located and everyone cleared the scene. 3:46 PM a property owner in Avery Township is having an issue with someone removing the realtors for sale signs. 11:01 PM A deputy initiated a traffic stop near the Lewiston Marathon in Albert Township. A 66 year Lewiston male was taken into custody for no security. He was lodged. All clear at 11:57 PM. September 7th 10:48 Dispatch was advised of a 33 year old female that was arrested in Otsego Co with a MCSO on a warrant. She was transported to MCSO and was lodged. September 8th 1:04 AM Dispatch was advised of a possible verbal dispute on Pleasant Valley Rd near Pine Oaks Rd in Hillman Township. Deputies responded and investigated. All was found to be okay. All clear at 1:32 AM. 3:59 AM Dispatch was advised of a verbal dispute on First St near Co Rd 624 in Hillman Township. Deputies responded and investigated. The parties were separated for the night. All clear at 4:43 AM. 4:54 AM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on M-33 N near Gerber Rd in Briley Township. A 30 year old male was taken into custody for driving on a suspended license. He was lodged. All clear at 5:18 AM. 3:46 PM a domestic dispute not in progress was reported in Briley Township, subjects separated, all units cleared the scene. 5:10 PM A 26 year old male subject was reported to have crashed his ATV in Albert Township, EMS was requested then subject left the scene, deputies located the subject nearby, he was found to be intoxicated, subject was taken into custody and lodged. September 9th 6:26 PM Dispatch was advised of an erratic driver on M-32 near Co Rd 491. All units were advised but no one in the area to intercept. Information was transferred to Otsego Co.

Subject was lodged. August 22nd 5:16 PM while on routine patrol a MSP Trooper initiated a traffic stop in Avery Township; driver was found to be driving on a suspended license, he was taken into custody and lodged at MCSO. August 23rd 09:07 AM a resident of Montmorency Township called to report utility trailer that has been parked in the road for 3 days, a deputy responded and advised owner of trailer to remove it from the roadway. 11:45 AM dispatch received a call from a citizen of Hillman Township stating that someone had taken his mailbox, investigation is ongoing. August 24th 2:01 PM dispatch received a call from a Albert Township resident regarding multiple ATV’s driving erratically on King Rd, DNR officer investigated and was unable to locate said ATV’s. 5:07 PM a deputy while on routine patrol stopped to assist a motorist with a broken-down vehicle, deputy assisted driver and then cleared without incident. 8:54 PM Alpena County Central Dispatch advised MCSO of a 32 year old male in their custody with a MCSO warrant. A deputy meet the Trooper at the county line and the male was transported to MCSO where he was lodged. 10:21 PM Dispatch received a message from Bloomfield Township PD advising they had a 30 year old male in their custody with a MCSO warrant. The male was transported to MCSO and lodged. August 25th 12:28 PM Dispatch was advised of a commercial alarm at Hillman Health Foods in the village. A deputy spoke with an employee of the building and it was an accident, no response needed. She was advised to call back if she needed an officer present. All clear at 12:34 PM. 5:52 PM Dispatch was advised of a verbal dispute between friends. Both parties were traveling eastbound on M-32 into Alpena County. Both calls were transferred to Alpena Central Dispatch. 8:03 PM Dispatch was advised of a semi truck driving erratically on Co Rd 489 near Wolf Lake Rd in Albert Township. A deputy responded and found the semi. Everything checked out, the driver was trying to avoid hitting the cars he was hauling on some leaning trees. All clear at 8:13 PM. August 26th 12:13 AM A deputy initiated a traffic stop with an ATV on Co Rd 612 near Co Rd 491. A 24 year old male was taken into custody for operating with a suspended license. He was lodged. All clear at 12:55 AM.

The damage was described as extensive. 9:25 AM A deputy investigated a hit and run crash in the Village of Hillman. August 18th 9:43 AM A deputy and a state trooper were requested to investigate apparent interference with a bear dog run. 10:57 AM A deputy and a state trooper and Tri-Township Fire and EMS responded for a semi versus car crash just north of the main intersection in Atlanta. No one was transported by EMS. 2:56 PM The marine patrol was advised of subjects said to be over crowding the parking areas at the Lake 15 boat launch. 2:59 PM A deputy investigated an alleged turfing incident not in progress in Hillman Township. 3:48 PM Deputies investigated alleged disorderly conduct in Montmorency Township. 4:14 PM Deputies investigated alleged disorderly conduct in the Village of Hillman. August 19th 3:23 AM A deputy responded to a fireworks complaint in Albert Township.

**EXERCISE TODAY** The annual County disaster EXERCISE will be today, Thursday August 16 beginning at 3 p.m.. This will be an active shooter, full scale EXERCISE. The Courthouse will close at 3 p.m. today. Regular Courthouse hours will resume on Friday, August 17th.

He was then arrested for simple assault, driver was also cited. 8:36 PM Dispatch received a call regarding loud sounds like explosives in Loud Township, it was found to be Camp Grayling doing training and they will be all week. 10:08 A deputy initiated a traffic stop on Baker Rd in Briley Township. A 40 year old Gaylord male was taken into custody for OWI. He was lodged. 10:23 PM Dispatch was advised of a commercial burglar alarm on M-23 in Briley Township. Deputies responded and investigated. All was found to be okay and all clear at 10:30 PM. August 9th 3:34 AM Deputies responded to a verbal dispute on County Rd 487 in Briley Township. Subjects were separated and all units were clear at 4:17 AM. 10:35 AM dispatch received a request for a welfare check on a male subject in Briley Township, who hadn’t been seen out of his house for awhile, deputies responded and found the gentleman in his home but not feeling well, a friend came over and took subject to clinic for medical evaluation. 3:39 PM a deputy while on routine patrol witnessed a vehicle drive by all the parked cars waiting on construction in Briley Township on M32, deputy initiated a traffic stop, the female driver was expired/suspended and had no security on the vehicle, subject was arrested and lodged. 11:04 PM MSP from Oscoda arrested a 26 year old male from Mio on an outstanding warrant from MCSO. All was found to be secure. 6:46 PM Dispatch was notified of a neighbor dispute on Mulholland Rd in Hillman Township. Deputies responded and investigated. The parties were separated and advised to have no further contact. All clear at 7:25 PM. August 11th 12:34 AM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on Co Rd 489 near Big Wolf Lake Rd in Albert Township. A 60 year old Lewiston male was taken in to custody for OWI. He was lodged. All clear at 1:40 AM. 6:19 PM Dispatch was advised of ATV’s driving with excessive speed down Buttles Rd in Albert Township. A trooper drove through the area but was unable to locate them. He will be looking around the area. 6:33 PM Dispatch was notified of a few jet ski’s on East Twin Lake that are not operating safely. Marine Patrol responded and investigated the situation and the DNR was notified. 6:36 PM A female reported a semi-truck driving erratically on M-32 traveling eastbound near Co Rd 491 in Vienna Township. A deputy responded and located the truck. The deputy followed the semi for a while and did not witness any erratic driving behavior. All clear at 6:55 PM.

Deputies responded and investigated. A 32 year old male was taken into custody was domestic violence and a 33 year old female was taken into custody on another county’s warrant. July 13th 9:45 AM Dispatch was advised of an erratic driver on M-32 near Camp 3 Rd in Vienna Township. All units were advised but nobody in the area to intercept. 11:43 AM Dispatch was advised of a suspicious vehicle sitting in the driveway of a Marquardt Rd residence. A deputy responded and investigated to find a 41 year old Roscommon male sitting in the vehicle and not acting appropriately. He was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs. He was lodged. All clear at 12:58 PM. July 14th 8:32 AM Dispatch was advised of a commercial alarm at the Thunder Bay Clinic in Briley Township. Deputies responded and were advised to disregard. All okay, no response needed. No serious injuries were reported and one person was transported to the hospital. A tow truck was called for both vehicles. July 15th 7:16 AM A MSP trooper responded to Hillman Township for a vehicle in the trees. The driver was transported to the hospital for injuries by Hillman EMS. 7:47 AM A MCSO deputy arrested a subject in Avery Township on an Alpena County warrant. Subject was lodged in Alpena County jail. 10:39 AM While on routine patrol a MCSO deputy initiated a traffic stop in Briley Township. The driver was found to be suspended, taken into custody and lodged at the MCSO jail. 11:25 PM Dispatch received a call that a vehicle was stolen by a female from a residence and backed into a shed and fled the scene on Fleming Rd. The owner of the vehicle found the vehicle at a nearby residence. The incident remains under investigation. All units were clear by 1:50 AM.

The parties were separated for the night and all units were clear at 4:31 AM. 2:14 PM dispatch received 2 separate 911 calls regarding a transformer on fire and a pole across the lines in Briley Township, Fire, EMS and law enforcement all responded, Fire stayed on scene until PIE&G arrived. 11:31 PM Hillman Fire/EMS responded to a grass/woods fire on Frisky Rd in Alpena County. The fire was started by an arching power line, PIE&G was on scene. All units were clear at 12:35 AM. June 14th 7:58 AM Dispatch was advised of a commercial burglar alarm at Subway in Albert Township. A deputy responded and investigated. The food delivery guy accidental set off the alarm. All clear at 8:03 AM. 1:56 AM During an attempt of a traffic stop by a deputy a vehicle sped off and a pursuit occurred for about three miles. The vehicle blew its motor and 2 suspects fled into the woods on foot near M-32 and McMurphy Rd. Tri Township Fire and EMS was dispatched due to the vehicle being on fire. Michigan State Police from Alpena and Gaylord assisted in the search for the suspects. A K-9 unit from Gaylord was also called in to assist. The suspects were not apprehended and the case remains under investigation. All units were clear at 5:33 AM. June 15th 10:53 AM A 62 year old male was taken into custody and transported to the jail. He was lodged. 12:39 PM During a traffic stop on M-32 near Hall Rd, a 30 year male was taken into custody for possession of marijuanna. He was lodged. June 17th 12:23 AM officers responded to a motel in Briley Township for a verbal dispute in progress. May 30th 3:32 PM Dispatch was advised of damage to a private road in Montmorency Township apparently done by ATV riders during the holiday weekend. Illegal trapping and damage to fish stocks were also concerns which were conveyed to the DNR. 3:43 PM Dispatch was made aware yet again of the many scam calls which are made into the county each day. If you wish to confirm who the call is from, hang up from the caller, determine the real number for that agency from another source and call the agency directly to find out if they are indeed calling you. May 31st 8:49 AM Deputies responded to the Village of Hillman for a man said to be acting suspiciously. Everything was sorted out by 10:00 AM. June 2nd 4:27 PM A deputy initiated a traffic stop on M-32 near Rose Ln in Briley Township. A 41 year old Atlanta male was taken into custody for driving while his license was suspended. He was lodged. All clear at 4:52 PM. 5:25 PM Dispatch was advised of a residential burglar alarm on Kenny Lane in Briley Township. Deputies and a Trooper responded and investigated.
