Evart Police Department Weekly Report October 29, 2018 to November 4, 2018 10/29/2018 Found Property – Officers were dispatched to a report of found property. The property was taken to the Evart Police Department for safe keeping. 10/29/2018 Domestic Dispute – Officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute not in progress. One subject was arrested for domestic violence. The subject was transported to the Osceola County Jail where they were lodged on their charge. 10/29/2018 Suspicious Person – Officers were called to a report of a suspicious person at a local business. The subject was gone prior to officer’s arrival. 10/29/2018 Suspicious Person – Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person inside a resident’s home. The case remains open at this time. 10/30/2018 Found Dog – A found dog was turned over to the Evart Police Department. The dog’s owners were located and the animal was returned to them. It was determined that the dog had broke their collar. The owners were given a warning for the violation. 11/1/2018 Retail Fraud – An off-duty officer was notified of a retail fraud in progress. The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor for review of charges. 11/2/2018 No Security – Officers were called to a local business for a fail to pay complaint. The driver of the vehicle was located and determined not to have insurance or a valid registration. 11/3/2018 Assist OCSD – Officers were called to assist the Osceola County Sherriff’s Department with a K9 track for a subject who had left the scene of an accident. The subject was located and arrested by deputies. An article search was conducted in the area of the arrest to look for any possible discarded items.

Evart Police Department Weekly Report October 22, 2018 to October 28, 2018 10/22/2018 Animal Complaint – Officers were called to a dog at large complaint. A citation was issued to the dog owner. 10/22/2018 Suspicious Vehicle – Officers were called to a parking complaint. The vehicle was tagged and will be towed if the owner does not correct the violation. 10/22/2018 No Security/No Registration – While on patrol, Officers conducted a traffic stop. The driver was found to be operating an unregistered vehicle and did not have insurance. The vehicle was towed and an appearance citation was issued. 10/23/2018 Defrauding and Inn Keeper – Officers were called to a complaint at a local business regarding a violation. The case remains open at this time. 10/23/2018 Threats – Officers were called to a threats complaint. All parties involved were advised of the consequences of their actions should they continue. 10/23/2018 Suspicious – Officers responded to a report of a possible domestic assault. The involved parties denied that any altercation had occurred. 10/10/2018 Non-Sufficient Funds – Officers were called to a complaint of a non-sufficient funds check at a local business. Contact was made with the subject who had written the check and they corrected the issue with the business. 10/24/2018 Private Property Damage Accident – Officers were called to a hit and run private property damage accident. No injuries were reported. 10/24/2018 Civil Dispute – Officers were dispatched to a civil dispute over child custody. The involved parties were advised to contact Friend of the Court to resolve their issue. 10/24/2018 Civil Dispute – Officers were called to a civil complaint over property. The case remains open at this time. 10/24/2018 Assist – Officers were called to assist a local business with a miscommunication with a customer. 10/25/2018 Mock Breaking and Entering – Officers conducted a demonstration investigation for a high school student. 10/25/2018 Harassment – Officers were called to a harassment complaint between two recently separated subjects. The subjects were advised to maintain their distance from each other and they agreed. 10/26/2018 DNR – Officers were called to a report of an injured deer. It was determined that the animal needed to be dispatched. The animal was turned over to a citizen for processing. 10/26/2018 Missing – Officers were dispatched to a report of a missing juvenile. The juvenile was located and a friend’s house and returned to her parent’s home. 10/26/2018 Hit and Run Property Damage Accident – Officers were called to a hit and run accident. No injuries were reported. The case remains open pending contact with the suspect driver. 10/27/2018 Property Damage Accident – Officers were called to a car deer accident. No injuries were reported. 10/27/2018 Possession of Marijuana – Officers were dispatched to a location on a report of a non-compliant sex offender. The subject was located and found to be in possession of marijuana and is currently on probation. The subject was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail where they were lodged on their violations.

The FTC warns about purchasing cosmetic contacts without a prescription. An eye doctor's prescription is required to purchase any contact lenses. Retailers offering them without requiring a prescription are operating outside the law.

Evart Police Department Weekly Report October 15, 2018 to October 21, 2018 10/15/2018 Property Damage Accident/No Insurance – Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident. One of the involved drivers was determined to not have insurance and an appearance citation was issued. 10/15/2018 Suspicious Situation – Officers received a walk-in complaint regarding inappropriate content in conversations that had been occurring over social media. The case has been turned over to the Michigan State Police. 10/15/2018 Larceny – Officers were called to a complaint of stolen political signs. The case remains open at this time. 10/15/2018 Animal Complaint – Officers were dispatched to a dog at large complaint. Contact was made with the owner and a citation was issued for the dog at large violation. 10/16/2018 Retail Fraud – Officers were dispatched to a retail fraud complaint that had occurred the day prior. The complaint was investigated and the suspect was identified. The report has been forwarded to the prosecuting attorney for review of charges. 10/16/2018 Retail Fraud – Officers were dispatched to a local business on a retail fraud complaint. Contact was made with the suspects. The report has been forwarded to the prosecuting attorney for review of charges. 10/16/2018 Fail to Pay – Officers were dispatched to a local business on a fail to pay complaint. The case remains open at this time. 10/16/2018 Assist Osceola County Sheriff’s Department – Officers were dispatched to conduct a stand-by for OSCD until they could arrive on the scene of a suspected drunk driver. 10/17/2018 Abuse – Officers were dispatched to the Evart High School to investigate an abuse complaint. The complaint was unfounded. 10/17/2018 Property Damage Accident – Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle PDA. No injuries were reported. 10/17/2018 Found Property – Officers were dispatched to a local business to secure a set of vehicle keys that were found. The keys are being held at the Evart Police Department pending contact with the owner. 10/17/2018 Suspicious Situation/Noise Complaint – Officers were called to a report of a possible fight in progress. Contact was made with both subjects and it was determined to be a verbal dispute. 10/17/2018 Noise Complaint/Arrest – Officers were called to a possible domestic altercation in progress. It was determined that no fight had taken place. One subject involved was found to have multiple outstanding warrants. The subject was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail where they were lodged on their warrants. 10/18/2018 Assist Osceola County Sheriff’s Department – Officers were dispatched to assist OCSD with a suspicious situation. Contact was made with one subject and it was determined that they were not in need of any services. 10/18/2018 Domestic Dispute – Officers were called to a possible domestic dispute. Contact was made with one subject who was violating their probation. The subject was arrested and turned over to the Clare County Sheriffs Department. 10/18/2018 Disorderly – Officers were called to the elementary school to assist staff with securing a student for transport. 10/18/2018 Transport – Officers were dispatched to a location of a juvenile who was found to be in violation of their probation. The subject was detained and transported to the Muskegon River Youth Home where they were lodged on their violation. 10/19/2018 Private Property Damage Accident – Officers were called to investigate a two-vehicle private property accident. No injuries were reported. 10/19/2018 Animal Complaint – While on patrol, Officers observed two dogs at large. The dogs were returned to their home. Contact with the owner is pending. 10/19/2018 Found Medication – Officers were dispatched to a local business to retrieve some prescription medication that was found. No contact information was able to be obtained from the medication. The medication was safely deposited in the prescription drop-box located at the Evart Police Department. 10/19/2018 Disorderly – Officers contacted a subject at a local business who was intoxicated. An attempt was made to transport the subject to their home. While enroute to the subject’s home – the subject became hostile and began threatening the officer assisting them. The subject was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail where they were lodged on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing justice. 10/21/2018 Civil Dispute – Officers received a complaint of harassment between family members. One subject was advised if the behavior continued the matter would be turned over to the prosecuting attorney for review of charges.

Evart Police Department Weekly Report October 1, 2018 to October 7, 2018 10-01-2018 Violation of Controlled Substance Act – Officers were dispatched to an address on a report of marijuana odor coming from the residence. Contact was made with two subjects resulting in one citation and one arrest. 10-01-2018 Larceny – Officers were dispatched to a report of a larceny from a vehicle. The case is open pending review. 10-01-2018 Disorderly – Officers were dispatched to the elementary school to document an episode with a disorderly student. 10-01-2018 Runaway – Officers were dispatched to assist the Michigan State Police with a runaway. The subject returned home on their own. 10-01-2018 Check Well Being – Officers were called to conduct a wellbeing check. Contact was made with an intoxicated subject who kept yelling for help. Officers spoke with the subject and transported them to their residence. 10-02-2018 Traffic Complaint – Officers were dispatched to a disregard of bus signal complaint. The offender was located and issued a citation. 10-02-2018 Assault and Battery – Officers were dispatched to a possible domestic violence complaint. It was determined that no assault had occurred. Officers conducted a stand by while one subject gathered their belongings and left the residence. 10-02-2018 Assist – Officers were requested to assist the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a domestic violence complaint. 10-03-2018 Trespass – Officers were dispatched to a trespassing complaint. Contact was made with the offender and a trespass notice was issued. 10-03-2018 Driving While License Suspended – While conducting a traffic stop, Officers determined the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license and the vehicle had no insurance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail where they were lodged on their charges. 10-03-2018 Check Well Being – Officers were dispatched to conduct a well being check. The subjects in question were found to be secure. The subjects did not request any further services. 10-03-2018 Possession of Marijuana – While conducting a traffic stop a subject was arrested for the possession of Marijuana. The subject was transported to the Osceola County Jail where they were lodged on their charges. 10-04-2018 Civil Dispute – Officers were called to a civil complaint. Officers spoke with both parties and assisted in resolving the issue. 10-04-2018 Disorderly – Officers were dispatched to the Elementary School on a complaint of a disorderly student. The subject was released to a guardian. 10-04-2018 Malicious Destruction of Property – Officers were dispatched to a malicious destruction of property complaint. The case remains open pending review of video surveillance. 10-04-2018 Check Well Being – Officers were dispatched to conduct a well being check. Contact was made with the subject in question and they were found to be secure. The subject did not request any further services.

The cases remain open at this time. 9-25-2018 Suspicious Situation – Officers received a complaint of threats and intimidation. The case remains open at this time. 9-26-2018 Traffic Complaint – While on school zone patrol, Officers received information regarding a careless driver. Contact was made with the driver and a warning was given for the traffic offense. 9-26-2018 Assault – Officers were called to the elementary school for an assault complaint. The case remains open at this time. 9-27-2018 Civil – Officers were called to a civil complaint regarding property damage. The evidence was documented and the complainant was provided a case number. 9-27-2018 Suspicious Situation – Officers were called to a report of a motorist that had not reached their destination in the expected time frame. Officers were later advised that the subject had reached their destination safely. 9-27-2018 Failure to Pay – Officers were called to two failure to pay complaints. The cases remain open at this time. 9-27-2018 Suspicious – Officers were dispatched to a suspicious situation. Contact was made with the subjects in question. They advised they were making a production video. 9-28-2018 Littering – Officers were dispatched to a littering complaint. An address was obtained from a piece of refuse. Contact with the owner is pending.
