New Ulm Police Department News

News Release: At 8:06 am on Saturday September 15th, the NUPD were disptached to a residence in New Ulm. The home owner had discovered two black trash bags near their garage. Inside the two trash bags were items believed to be from a recent burglary at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The burglary took place on September 13th. Responding Officers confirmed the items were from the burglary and called Sr. Investigator Hohensee to the scene. The recovered items were sampled for possible DNA. A canvas of the area was conducted and the investigation remains active. Surveillance video outside the church shows the suspects entering the church from the alley. They appear to be a white male and white female. There is phsyical, digital and DNA evidence that is being analyzed regarding this case. Please review the video shown. There is still a reward of up to $500 (five hundred dollars) for information that leads to the conviction of these two suspects. All information given can remain confidential. At the office typing the crash report from a short time ago. Not to worry there are still 3 officers out on the streets ready to respond to calls.

Officers cleared a residence a short time ago that involved a juvenile related issue.

Responded to a 911 hang up call in the 600 block 6th North, just a miss dial.

Officers are out at a 2 vehicle crash at 8th North & Garden Streets. Everyone in both vehicles are okay.

This morning our newest Officer, Mitch Mullenbach was sworn in. We welcome Officer Mullenbach to our PD and our community. 🎉

Yesterday we played our annual unified softball game with Wild Bunch Special Olympians, New Ulm Steel Hockey, MLC students and Brown County Sheriff's Department. We really enjoy events like this where we can come together as a community to have some fun.

Our German police officers are in the park for HermannFest, we are the 1st table straight out from the 1919 trailer, stop over and say hello to them. Prost!

Sunday come watch us play a friendly game of softball with the local New Ulm Wild Bunch Special Olympians as well New Ulm Steel hockey players, MLC students and Brown County Deputies. We may even have some of our German Exchange Officers along. This a really fun event and we love having spectators cheer us all on.
