Montevideo School Staff trained with Law Enforcement today. Great training teaching staff options should a threat happen. Thanks to Chippewa County Sheriffs Office, Lac Qui Parle Sheriffs Office, Clara City Police and Southwest Ems for assisting.

New playground equipment is being installed at Hillcrest Park this week which is located on the south end of sixth Street. This will be a nice addition to the south part of town

Nick Vorvick was officially sworn in as Montevideo’s newest Police Officer. He is originally from town and was formerly a Lac Qui Parle Deputy Sheriff and Dawson Police Officer

On 10/04/2018, MPD received numerous reports of car windows broken and tires slashed. All reports are on the south part of town. One resident noticed damage prior to 230 AM on 10/4/18. We are asking any residents in the south part of town to check any cameras you may have or contact us if you have any information. MPD can always pay rewards that lead to solving crimes in our community.

MPD had Coffee with a Cop yesterday at the Community Center. It was great to see and talk with everyone that came out! Thanks to Tracy Wellendorf for organizing such a great event!

We are saddened by the death of former Part-Time Officer and local Conservation Officer Ed Picht. Ed worked for the City of Montevideo from 2008-2013. There will be a public visitation from 3-6pm on Friday October 5th, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2006 William Ave in Montevideo.

MPD, MFD, CCMH Ambulance, North Air care, Chippewa Sheriffs Dept, MN State Patrol, Anderson Tebeest Funeral Home, Montevideo School Staff and Chippewa County Family Service all participated in a Mock Crash shown to Montevideo School Students.

Come up to the Montevideo Veteran Home site at 400pm for a group photo. Followed by a free meal at the American Legion.

The city liquor store has had the parking lot restriped. Even though it’s always been no parking next to the building, it’s also always been abused. The PD will now be enforcing this. Please do not park there. Park in the parking lot and walk across to the liquor store. There are four handicapped spots available.

Lagoon park and camping will we closed for a couple weeks as road work is behind done...residences are still accessible by snake hill.

MPD has recovered numerous stolen items and items we believe to be stolen but not reported. This is all from the recent rash of garage burglaries..please look at photos and of there is anything that looks to be yours...and you haven’t reported it...please contact us at MPD. We will be contacting owners of property for cases that have been reported.
