Looking for help! Today between 3:00 and 4:00pm there was a blue Dodge Ram1500 that was hit by another vehicle in the parking lot in front of Julies True Value. LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN - 2018 UPDATE The Silver Bay Police Department, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Two Harbors Police Department would like to thank EVERYONE who donated, volunteered, biked, walked, wheelchaired, or ran in the 2018 LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF MINNESOTA! Because of the citizens and businesses of Two Harbors, Silver Bay, and Lake County coming together, we made this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run an even bigger event than last year! There are not enough words to say THANK YOU! Your law enforcement professionals were overwhelmed by the number of people who participated in this event, as well as humbled and proud of the support received throughout the fundraising effort. Also, a special thanks to Houley & Mo DJ & Karaoke for providing music during the event, and all the firefighters from Two Harbors and Silver Bay, along with the Lake County Rescue Squad that helped set up the Two Harbors Fire Department. Hello everyone, The Silver Bay Police Department would like to invite all of you to participate in this years Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics of Minnesota. The Silver Bay Police Department is actively working with the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Two Harbors Police Department to raise money and awarness for this great cause that forwards the opportunity to over 8,200 special olympians to compete in this amazing event. The public/law enforcement run/walk/bike will begin at 5:00pm on June 19th at the Arena in Two Harbors and end at the Two Harbors Fire Hall. At the fire hall there will be food, music and a silent auction. Transportation is being aranged with busses to provide rides to the event for Silver Bay area residents. More details to come. There are T-shirts for sale $20 each(Sizes S-XXL) as well as hats upon request. Purchase of a t-shirt and/or hat will gain you entry into the run. We also have 3x6 Torch Run stickers for $5 each. These items can be purchased at City Hall during business hours or at the Police Department provided one of our officers are present. All donations go directly to the Minnesota Special Olymipics. Officer McGrath had the opportunity to have a special visit today. Dakota is a big fan of the Silver Bay Police Department and is also a DARE Program graduate! Dakota was able to see how our squads work, and best of all try out the siren! Thanks for the fun afternoon Dakota!

Thank you to everyone that shared our post about the dog that was found yesterday! We are happy to report back and say the dog was identified and brought home early this morning!

This yellow lab was found tonight in the area of Garden Dr. If you know who’s dog this might be have them call the Police Department at 226-4486 or 220-0700. Thanks!

A child’s snowboard was found by the golf course sledding hill. If your child forgot to bring their snowboard home and/or lost it contact the police department. The police department has a growing list of property that has been found, belonging to adults and children, that has yet to be reported or identified by its proper owners. A female yellow lab was found wandering in the roadway at the intersection of Ives Rd. and Hays Circle. Pink/Purple collar and tag for the Ely Vet Clinic. With winter taking on a bit of an early arrival this year we would like to remind everyone of Silver Bay's Winter Parking Ordinance that will be in full effect come November 1st. For reference: 1000.05 Subdivision 12 Winter Parking on City Streets No owner or driver of a motor vehicle shall park a motor vehicle or permit any motor vehicle to remain on any street or highway in the city between 11:00PM and 6:00AM from November 1st to April 30th every year, and during any time that snow plowing or snow removal operations are in progress. A violation of this section is a petty misdemeanor. We ask that you please spread the word! Thank you and stay safe out there!

The Minnesota Veterans Home is looking for help finding a male cat that had escaped through an open window last night. It is white with long fur and has bright blue eyes and his name is Buddy. If you find it please contact us at (218) 226-4486 or the Vet's Home at (218) 353-8700. Thanks!

Our great city never disappoints! Not only were we able to get the 3 legged cat back to its owner, but our other cat guest at the pound was able to be claimed and brought home also! Thanks for all the 'shares' and for spreading the word!

An officer found a gray/smokey colored 3 legged cat in the area of Hays Cir and the Water Tower Rd. The cat was placed in the pound, please contact the police department if this cat belongs to you or if you know who the owners might be.
