A very special thank you to all of the donors who make this program possible and the students for casting their votes! Great work Cash and Jason!

As many of you may have notice there was a delay and detour on Highway 23 in Cold Spring yesterday after a traffic accident. Thankfully all parties involved were able to leave the scene of the accident under their own power with no life threatening injuries. A special thank you to all agencies involved including the Cold Spring Fire Department, Rockville Fire Department, Gold Cross, Stearns County Sheriffs Office, MN State Patrol, MN Department of Transportation, Collins Brothers Towing, Tom Kraemer Inc and Kraemer Trucking and Excavating. All agencies and businesses worked together succefully to safely process and clean up the accident scene in order to open Highway 23 as quickly as possible. Please help ensure traffic safety by focusing your attention to the roadway while driving, following the rules of the road and performing maintenance checks on your vehicle.

Please keep in mind winter parking restrictions during the current storm. Please keep the roads clear as plows are preparing to go out at 1pm. Thank you.

Tommy Decker, “The man the myth the legend”. Tommy was a very hard working family man that had some very interesting ways of looking at things and how to get those things done. Tommy tried to be a handyman in his home, but things did not always turn out the way I believe he had pictured them in his head and we still laugh about some of the final outcomes. We have lots of memories that still make us laugh today including the “Green Man” suit, Tommy’s choice of “premium” beverages and his ability to find the most obscure statutes with the hopes that they may come up at some point in his career. All of us at the Cold Spring/Richmond PD have lost a great friend and partner. Tommy we still talk about you often and you will always be missed by us all!

Officer Decker's dedication ceremony

Today marks five years since Cold Spring-Richmond Police Officer Tommy Decker was killed in the line of duty. There will be a brief public ceremony today at 3:30 p.m. on 2nd Avenue South, just south of Main Street in Cold Spring to dedicate the End of Watch memorial sign for Officer Tommy Decker. The sign installation for Officer Decker was delayed due to the road construction project near the proposed site of the sign. Similar signs were placed earlier this year for other local law enforcement officers who were also killed in the line of duty. The signs honoring St. Joseph Police Officer Brian Kleinfelter and Stearns County Deputy Edwin Arendt were placed in the respective locations where they lost their lives in Stearns County. We would like to invite anyone interested to attend the ceremony.

A few up coming events in the Richmond area.

The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to invite you to its annual Hometown Pride Breakfast! The pancake breakfast will be served at the St. Boniface Parish Center from 7:30- 10:00 am on Friday, July 28. This year’s donations and freewill offering will benefit the Cold Spring Police Department K9 Project. “Thank you for selecting us as the recipient,” writes Chief Jason Blum of the CSPD. “I am currently the handler for Riley, who has been with our department since early 2015. Riley is certified for narcotics, tracking, and article searches… all of the searching Riley does is passive. The new K9 will be trained in apprehensions, along with narcotics and tracking. This is beneficial to protect the officers and give us another tool on the tool belt to help deal with situations. All of the funds that are raised are used to purchase the K9, needed equipment (training aids), and to assist with the training of the dog.” “I see this as a worthy cause,” wrote Chamber member John Larson of Granite Country Computer Repair in the letter he sent with his donation to the project. Before the breakfast, donations can be sent to the Chamber of Commerce office at 20 Red River Ave S, Suite 110 in Cold Spring, MN 56320. Donations will also be collected at the breakfast. Hope to see you there!
