Saturday, October 27, 2018 is National Prescription Take Back Day.. You can bring any unwanted or expired medications to the Byhalia Police Department between 10a-2p, for them to be disposed of.

Edwards Rd railroad crossing is blocked due to the train being disabled, Burlington Northern has been notified and they are working to get the crossing cleared, at this time we have no estimated time for the crossing to be cleared. Please choose an alternate route.

Deputy Kerry Reid will be putting on a self defense class at the Byhalia Police Department for all civilians. The class will be held in two sessions. First session is October 12, 2017 from 4:30p-6:30p. Second session is October 16, 2017 from 4:30p-6:30p. Both sessions are required to make up the one class. Cost is $49/person with discounts for immediate family members. Cost includes the instruction, t-shirt, and certificate of completion. we need the public's help to locate a vehicle. Our agency is looking for a red or possibly burnt orange Jeep Rubicon 4 door, vehicle has a black hardtop, black Fender wells/mud guards and black rims, vehicle is wanted in connection to a burglary that occurred in our city approximately 12:47 am on today. The power is out throughout the majority of town, including the red light at Hwy 309 and Hwy 178, please remember to treat the light as a four way stop. Northcentral has been notified and are in the area attempting to correct the problem.

Sounds of Summer Music and Arts Festival 5p-10p Today, August 19 will be located behind Byhalia Town Hall - 225 Hwy 309 S. Lots of different vendors and booths to visit. Stop by and say hello to our Officers that will be on duty today.

School starts tomorrow! Please remember the area school zones as officers will be present. Traffic will be heavily congested the next few days, We ask for your patience and remind you to watch for Officers instructions and watch for children crossing near the schools. Last, watch for buses as they make their rounds. We want everyone to have a wonderful school year!

The Byhalia Police Department is currently accepting applications for a full time state certified police officer. Applications can be picked up at Town Hall, located at 225 Hwy 309 South, or printed from the Town's website at www.byhalia-ms.com. Applications need to be turned in no later than August 14, 2017 at 12p at the Police Department, located at 161 Hwy 309 South.

The Byhalia Police Department will be conducting sobriety checkpoints during the dates of May 26, 2017 through May 29, 2017

Upon hearing recent news reports we want to clarify a few things. On 5/14/2017, Byhalia Officers along with Marshall County deputies responded to the area of Fuller Street and Oak Street in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located one victim that had been shot one time in the abdomen. The suspect had fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Med in Memphis, TN. The last update we received was that the victim was in surgery but is expected to make a full recovery. The suspect shooter was identified on the scene and was located in Victoria, MS by Marshall County deputies. The suspect was detained and placed into custody before 2pm. The investigation is ongoing at his time and we will release additional information on the case at a later time.
