Glendive Police Department News

Good morning, Glendive! Per West Glendive Fire Chief, there is a burn ban in effect starting today 10/26 till Sunday 10/28. Have a safe weekend!

Parents, with school underway, this is a good opportunity to emphasize the following safety tips with your children: • Walk to and from school in groups. • If anything unusual occurs, please tell an adult immediately. Parents and teachers need to know right away what happened. • Never talk to strangers or accept rides from them. • Don't panic. If you are afraid or have a problem, call a parent or a trusted adult. • Arrange for immediate access to neighbors and to other trusted adults who could answer questions or be contacted in an emergency. • Tour the neighborhood with your child to identify safe and dangerous circumstances and places. • Never tell people at the door or phone callers that you are home alone. Say your parents are busy and offer to take a message. • Keep your house key hidden. Don't give it to anyone and don't keep it in a visible place that would tell people you are going home to an empty house. • Never get into a car, enter a home, look for a lost pet, and accept candy or toys from an adult, unless your parents know what you are doing and have given you their permission first. Lastly, if you see any suspicious or concerning activity, please contact us at 406-377-2364 or dial 9-1-1. Stay safe, Glendive.

Never forgotten.

Good morning, Glendive. Just an FYI - The Glendive Public Works Department will be burning the tree pile at the landfill tomorrow, September 6th, around 6am. If you see any smoke coming from there, we are aware of it. If you see any smoke coming from another area, please call us to confirm it's not an active burn in progress. Our office number is 406-377-2364. Thank you!

Thank you to the Dawson County Boys and Girls Club! Yes, Officer Morris is the one pictured with all the kids.

Good morning, Glendive. We've received several complaints regarding political signs. Please review the City of Glendive Ordinance Code 11-4-2 (B6d), as posted below. We ask all city residences to remove any signs that are not up to code. The earliest date to post signs is September 22, 2018. d. Political Or Campaign Signs: Political or campaign signs on behalf of candidates for public office or measures on election ballots. Such signs may be erected not earlier than forty five (45) days prior to the primary or special election and shall be removed within fifteen (15) days following the general or special election. If there is no primary election scheduled, then such signs may not be erected earlier than forty five (45) days prior to the general election. In any zone such signs shall not exceed thirty two (32) square feet in aggregate area and if detached, shall not exceed six feet (6') in height. Signs over thirty inches (30") in height shall comply with the clear vision standards at intersections. No political sign, poster, or handbill shall be located within or over the public right of way or on any utility pole, official public sign, bridge, or fire hydrant.

Good morning, Glendive. As the years have passed, it has been forgotten that we do issue out bicycle licenses that are good until the end of every year. Meaning, if you license your bicycle with us, it will expire at the end of the year and you will have to relicense your bike the following year if you choose to do so. This does have a licensing fee of $1.00 and you will receive a little “license plate” to put on your bike. So, if you’d like to license your bicycle, please come down to the Police Department at 440 Colorado Blvd to do so. Have a great week, everyone! -GPD

The roads are slippery out there, folks!

Good morning, Glendive! Be aware, the Barry Underpass will be closed today between the hours of 1pm-3pm. The City Public Works will be working there and barricades will be up. Happy Monday!

While on a cold night of patrol walks, Officer Morris found a decorative painted rock! He'd like to thank whomever had hid this. Do you know who made this? Tell them we said hi and thank you!
