November 6, 2018, Stephen VanDerSchelden was arrested on an outstanding from the City of Cascade. After a subsequent investigation VanDerShelden was charged with Criminal Possession of Dangerous Drugs, a felony; Criminal Possession Of Dangerous Drugs With Intent To Distribute, a felony.

Meagher County Sheriff’s Office Complaint Report for the month of October 2018 In this month the Sheriff’s Office received three hundred eighty five incoming calls, thirty three 9-1-1 calls, and three hundred twenty nine people coming into the office. For a total of seven hundred forty seven people who contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Fifteen tickets were issued in the City. Four tickets were issued in the County. One warrant of arrest was served in the City. Zero warrants of arrest were served in the County. One set of civil papers was served in the City. Zero sets of civil papers were served in the County. New Complaints by location CITY COMPLAINTS: 10-02-2018 COMPLAINT: Individual called to report that water was running out of a city building. City crew was notified and responded. 10-02-2018 SICK CARED FOR: Individual called requesting the ambulance as she was not feeling well. Ambulance responded and the patient was transported to local hospital. 10-04-2018 TRESPASS TO PROPERTY: While on patrol deputy spoke with individual in the office of a local business after hours. Individual was later found not to have been in the business. Incident is under investigation. 10-05-2018 CITY/JUSTICE COURT WARRANT: Local individual was arrested on a local warrant of arrest. 10-005-2018 SICK CARED FOR: Local hospital called requesting a patient transfer to Livingston. Dispatch assembled a crew and the transfer was completed. 10-06-2018 OPEN CONTAINER: While on patrol deputy observed three individuals standing on Main Street with open alcohol containers. Citations were issued to the individuals. 10-06-2018 DISTURBANCE: Local motel called to report hearing fighting going on outside her room. Deputy responded and found it to be the three individuals he had dealt with earlier. Deputy gave them a verbal warning a stated if had to come back they would be given more citations. 10-08-2018 DISTURBANCE: Deputies responded to a disturbance on Main Street. Juvenile female was found as well as a male subject arrested for DUI. 10-09-2018 SICK CARED FOR: Local hospital called requesting a patient transfer to Great Falls. Dispatch assembled a crew and the transfer was completed. 10-10-2018 DEATH AT NURSING HOME: Local hospital called to notify us of a death of one of their residents. Sheriff/Coroner was notified of the death. 10-12-2018 PUBLIC ASSIST: Individual called concerned for the welfare of his neighbor. Deputy responded and did not find the individual in his home. Individual was later found to be in Helena at a doctor’s appointment. 10-15-2018 SICK CARED FOR: Deputies and Ambulance responded to the parking lot of local motel for an unresponsive male. Patient was transported to local hospital and later flown by Mercy Flight to Great Falls. 10-16-2018 JUVENILE OFFENSES: Local school called requesting a deputy. Deputy responded and investigated incident involving a juvenile. 10-17-2018 COMPLAINT: Individual came into office with an item found at the school. Deputy was notified of the complaint. 10-19-2018 CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUGS: Local casino employee called to report a disorderly customer. Deputy responded and found drugs and drug paraphernalia on his person. Individual was arrested. 10-20-2018 CRIMINAL MISCHIEF/VANDALISM: Individual called to report that someone had broken a bunch of bottles in Bair Park. Deputy was notified. 10-22-2018 COMPLAINT: Dispatch was notified that a local student had received a threat on the school on his phone. Deputy was notified and an investigation started. School was closed the following day, but reopened the following as the perpetrator was identified. 10-22-2018 SICK CARED FOR: Dispatch received call stating a hunter had fell off horse and was injured. Search and Rescue was paged, Galt offered to fly in and pick him up so this resource was utilized. Individual was transported to local hospital. 10-24-2018 OTHER MOTOR VEHICLE-TRAFFIC/PROPERTY: Individual called to report hitting a parked car. Bordering county was notified to intercept as no units were in the area. 10-05-2018 RADD: MHP called requesting deputy respond to US 89 South for a report of possible intoxicated driver. Deputy responded but was unable to locate the vehicle in question. 10-08-2018 SICK CARED FOR: Ambulance responded to report of elderly that had lost consciousness. Patient was transported to local hospital. 10-13-2018 PFMA: Individual called to report getting into a fight with her boyfriend at a Newlan Creek cabin. On October 22, 2018 at approximately 2pm, Meagher County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a 911 cellphone call from a hunter. The caller reported that his hunting partner, a 64 year old male, had fallen from a horse and had possible broken bones. The Meagher County Sheriff's Office Dispatcher was able to get a GPS location on the 911 mapping system, and found their location in the Smith Fork drainage in the Castle Mountains. Meagher County Search and Rescue was paged, but after consulting with SAR members familiar with the area, it was determined the quickest way in was by air. Galt Aviation was contacted and accepted the mission. The helicopter, piloted by Meagher County SAR member Bill Galt, was able to fly in and pick up the injured hunter. The injured hunter was taken to the Mountainview Medical Center for treatment. Thanks to all of the SAR volunteers!!

***MESSAGE FROM WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS SCHOOL*** Parents, Staff and Community; White Sulphur Springs School experienced a social media threat last night. We appreciate the cooperation of all involved in keeping our students and staff safe. The Meagher County Sheriff's Office and Helena Police Department have been investigating the threat and have determined that the threat is no longer viable. The individual responsible for the posts on social media has been identified and law enforcement is handling the situation. The threat originated from Helena and law enforcement there is working with the individual responsible. Meagher County Sheriff’s Office Complaint Report for the month of September 2018 In this month the Sheriff’s Office received 407 incoming calls, 31 9-1-1 calls, and 308 people coming into the office. For a total of 746 people who contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Sixteen tickets were issued in the City Four tickets were issued in the County. One warrant of arrest was served in the City Zero warrants of arrest were served in the County. Three sets of civil papers were served in the City. New Complaints by location CITY COMPLAINTS: 09-01-2018 TRAFFIC STOP/ELUDING: While on patrol deputy initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle sped off. Deputy pursued the vehicle west of town. In the interest of public safety the pursuit was ended as the deputy knew who the driver was, and an arrest warrant for the driver was requested. 09-03-2018 PURCHASE OR POSSESS INTOXICANT BY A MINOR: While on foot patrol deputy observed young male with a mixed drink in his hand. Deputy made contact and determined him to be underage. Individual was written a citation for underage possession. 09-05-2018 HIT AND RUN: Individual called stating their vehicle had been hit by another while they were eating dinner and it was witnessed by an employee at the restaurant. Deputy responded but was unable to locate the vehicle. 09-05-2018 TRAFFIC COMPLAINT: Dispatch received complaints on dirt bikes in town. Deputy responded and gave verbal warnings to the individuals. 09-05-2018 SICK CARED FOR: Deputy and Ambulance responded to local residence for an elderly female.
