Update: Dink Ashley and Berry Pearce Road are back open Here are the updated road closures from the NCDOT as of this afternoon. Please be aware of the road closures and please do not move barricades for your safety and others. We will keep you post as to when these roads are back open.

This is a list of CURRENT road closures in Person County. We have received information that people have been moving the barricade on Kermit Duncan Road! This is extremely dangerous! The road is washed away from underneath the pavement and could very easily collapse with the weight of a vehicle!

Continued prayers for the parts of our State that are suffering the devastating impacts of Hurricane Florence. Our agency currently has 4 deputies that have been deployed to a county that is in the center of the impacted areas. We have 4 others on standby and willing to head out as needed.

Today 611 pounds of prescription medication, many of which were opioids, were taken to the State Crime Lab to be destroyed thanks to the medication drop box that is located in our front lobby! #operationmedicinedrop

Join us for our 12th annual BBQ fundraiser for Relay for Life THIS Friday the 10th. We’ll start serving at 11am and serve until we’re sold out! We will be in the front parking lot of the Sheriff’s office and the meal will include a bbq sandwich, chips, bottled water, and a dessert for $6. You will also have the option to purchase just the sandwich for $3. See you Friday!

Our agency has received reports of multiple B&E's into vehicles in the 3000 block of Hurdle Mills Road. The incidents have occurred to unlocked vehicles. Please be sure to lock your vehicles and report anything suspicious to the Sheriff's Office. 336-597-0500 ext. 0

This juvenile has been located and is safe!!! MISSING! Casey Lynn Wicker, 14 year old, white female. Unknown clothing and unknown direction of travel. Possibly enroute to Princeton, West Virginia. This juvenile has been entered into the national database as a missing person. If located, contact the Person County Sheriff’s Office at 336-597-0500.

On Monday May 28th, 2018 the administrative offices of the Sheriff's Office will be closed to celebrate those that have fought and continue to protect our freedom and this country.

The Person County Sheriff’s Office will host a public forum in reference to Active Shooter Awareness and Place of Worship Security Awareness. This event will be presented by Captain Jason Wilborn on May 31st at 7pm at The Helena Sub-Station Training Room. (Old Helena school cafeteria) This event is free and open to the public and will include a question and answer section. Space is limited but depending on interest shown, future dates and locations are possible. At approximately 7:07pm on Wednesday, April 25th, our agency was dispatched to Hyco lake in reference to a recovered boat. Shortly after arriving, deputies determined that there had been an accident involving this boat and a search for the victims began. At approximately 8:18pm, a female victim was recovered from the lake. The search for the second victim continued and the male victim was recovered on Sunday, April 29th around 1:25pm. Our agency would like to express our gratitude for the tireless efforts of Person County Rescue Squad, Vance County Rescue Squad, Durham County Sheriff's Office Search and Recovery Team, NC Wildlife, Person County Emergency Services, and members of the community for their assistance with the search and recovery of the victims. We would also like to thank NC Highway Patrol and Paul Jackson for their assistance in air searches by helicopter and Jason Howe who also assisted with air searches. The accident is still under investigation.

ALL of our GREAT camps are FULL! If you have not turned in your application, you can still turn them in and be placed on a waiting list! Thank you for your continued interest and support of our youth camps!!

The only available camp is July 23-27. The other 3 camps are FULL!

We will NOT have office personnel available for fingerprinting on Tuesday, April 17th and Wednesday, April 18th. The office staff will be in a training session for those two days. We will resume a normal schedule for fingerprinting on Thursday the 19th. Feel free to share this schedule change.
