On Saturday, officers of the Wilson Police Department assisted with the annual Park Ball at Warren Street Park. We played 4 games against neighborhood teens and adults. Wilson Police won 3 of the 4 games. It was a great event with neighborhood basketball, corn hole games, the raffling of 4 bicycles for the youth and a cookout at the end. A special thanks to Daniel Hill Neighborhood Association, one of the longest running community groups in our city and a valued supporter of the Wilson Police Department!

Our recent crime data shows us that cars are still being left unlocked. Cars are being broken into and even stolen. The suspects are looking for the easiest manner to commit these crimes. We urge everyone to lock their doors and make sure all valuables are removed from their vehicles. Please watch and share this informative video. Let's all do our part to make Wilson a safe and great place to be. Thank you.

Good evening! We’d like the share some information with you about a nationwide testing event scheduled for this Wednesday afternoon that may help you understand what is happening when the test occurs. Nationwide Emergency Alert Test On Wednesday, Oct. 3, starting at approximately 2:20 p.m. EDT, FEMA will conduct the first-ever nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS) to test national warning capabilities. The test message will be sent to all radio, TV, and participating wireless carriers. Cell phones will buzz and make a loud tone. During this time, cell phones that are switched on, within range of an active cell tower, and whose wireless carrier participates in WEAs, should receive the test message. View the FEMA video about this test at the link below:

Can you remember something you saw six months ago, nine months ago or even a year ago? Well, law enforcement officers are just like you which is why we document items in visual, audio and written form. Tonight the Alumni Academy was given instruction on basic photography and then introduced to crime scene photography by the Wilson Police Department Forensics Unit. Once the classroom portion was concluded the students were allowed an opportunity to document crime scene evidence. There are some aspiring forensic photographers in this group. Everyone did wonderful.
