On October 2nd the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an unconfirmed report of suspicious activity in Hebron regarding a female jogger and an unknown darker complected male subject. Upon completion of a follow up including an interview with the victim it was determined that earlier today a female jogger was contacted by a male subject Who she described as a black male. This subject was driving an older model dark Buick four-door with Kansas license plates which included 888 in the plate number. The female jogger reported the male subject started a dialogue with her while she was jogging and then attempted to reestablish contact after exiting his vehicle. Two individuals who happened to witness the activity stopped to check on her which caused the unknown male subject to leave the area. The sheriffs office is asking for anyone who may have observed this vehicle to please contact them. As always be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. This was a belated report today and we also ask that you report any suspicious activity immediately. Please be safe.

The Thayer County Sheriff's Office is aware of this situation and reported this information earlier to the public. We will post any follow up information we receive. Area law enforcement is aware of this and will continue to investigate. If you see anything suspicious please report it immediately. Sadly we live in a society that has in its midst, individuals who are capable of causing harm to others. While we as law enforcement officers will doing everything we can to stop these subjects we need your help in identifying potential threats. On Saturday, August 18th, at approximately 5:30 p.m the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in Deshler, Ne. The warrant resulted in the arrest of Brittany Thieman, age 28, of Deshler, Ne. Thieman was transported to the Jefferson County jail and booked on the following charges. 1. Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. 2. Possession of a controlled substance. 3. Possession of methamphetamine. 4. Maintaining a drug house. 5. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond has been set in the amount of $50,000 with 10% allowed.

Area residents please be aware of this situation. Contact law enforcement if you see something suspicious or feel a motorist may be stranded. Be safe

On August 11, 2018 at approximately 1:00 a.m. a Thayer County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop in Hebron Nebraska. Upon contact with the driver the deputy observed drug paraphernalia in open view. A secondary officer arrived and as a result of the investigation the driver, Anthony Baines, age 31, of Hebron, Ne. was arrested. Baines is currently being held in the Thayer county jail on the following charges. 1. Possession of a controlled substance, 2. Possession of marijuana more than 1 ounce, 3. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 4. Open container of alcohol.

On August 9th 2018 at approximately 7:10 a.m. the Thayer County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in Alexandria, Ne. The warrant was issued by the court after a lenghty investigation was conducted based on information received by the public regarding illegal activity in the area. Timothy McManaman age 45 of Alexandria, Ne. and Stacey McManaman age 34 of Alexandria, Ne. were both arrested. Both subjects are being held on charges including Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substance other than Marijuana, Possession of more than 1 pound of Marijuana, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and other drug related charges. Additional charges and arrests are pending.

On Sunday, August 5th, 2018 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Sheriff's Deputy's responded to Alexandria, Ne. in response to a reported domestic disturbance. During the course of the investigation Deputy's arrested a male and female subject. Richard Martinson, age 52 of Alexandria, Ne. was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Wisconsin for Parole Violations. Also arrested was Margo Babtiste, age 44 of Alexandria, Ne. She was arrested based on a warrant out of Lancaster County Ne. for theft.

The Thayer County Sheriff's Office is very proud to be part of the 2018 Cattlemen's Ball which will be held here June 1st - June 2nd. This is such an important and beneficial event. On Monday May 7, 2018, inmate Lance Powers age 29 of Hebron, Ne. escaped from the Thayer County Jail while being escorted by a Dispatcher/Matron from his cell to another location in the jail area. Powers ran out the front door of the Sheriff''s Office. Sheriff Lee chased the inmate and was assisted by several citizens who pointed out direction of travel with some even following in their vehicles and on foot. Powers was spotted in the downtown area as he continued running eastbound He was soon apprehended by Sheriff Lee and Deputy Rose near the Hebron Swimming Pool and Summer Rec area. Powers was transported to the Saline Co. jail and will face additional charges. Powers was currently being held on local charges pertaining to Non payment of child support, FTA, and DUS. Jefferson County Sheriff also holds an active warrant for Powers for Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Effective February 12, 2018 residents in the Village of Bruning and surrounding area will receive medical response from South Central EMS based out of Geneva, Ne. Carleton Rescue will provide backup ambulance service when South Central EMS is unavailable. This change is the result of an interlocal agreement between the Village of Bruning, Village of Carleton, and South Central EMS. The Sheriff's Office and 911 Center will continue to receive all 911 calls and will be responsible for paging out appropriate units and departments in the event of an emergency.
