WRTV6 reports that a man has been arrested in connection with a triple homicide that occurred in Indianapolis over the summer of 2017. Kenneth Lavar Lancaster, 24, faces murder charges for the deaths of Mark Higgins, 64, Keith Higgins, 34, and Jessica Carte, 34.

Carte, who was Keith’s girlfriend, was believed to be a drug customer of Lancaster’s. Authorities state that he was giving her money to rent vehicles under her name for him to drive. However, Carte allegedly kept the money he was paying her and he discovered this fact when he was pulled over in one of the rented vehicles.

Investigators allege that Lancaster called Carte to meet him at a house and he tied her up and took her purse and phone. He then drove her to Mark’s home, where he killed all three of the victims.

Witnesses reported hearing Lancaster make threatening remarks about harming Carte. One stated that he said Carte “should have thought about that and made the funeral arrangements when she stole the money from us.” Others claim they heard him confess to the murders on different occasions.

Lancaster was already in custody for a failure to appear warrant in a separate case when he was charged with these murders. His past criminal record includes possession of cocaine, dealing in a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, battery, domestic battery, strangulation and alteration of handgun identifying marks, according to WRTV.

It is unclear whether Lancaster will face additional charges in the case. Detectives traveled to the jail where he was being held in a neighboring county to interview him. No hearing date has been set.
