The Associated Press reports that a man in Long Island has been arrested for threatening to shoot a child after he lost a video game to him. Michael Aliperti, 45, was arrested Tuesday because he allegedly threatened to shoot an 11-year-old boy after losing the game “Fortnite.” He also allegedly threatened to go to the boy’s home or school to harm him. These threats were sent to the boy through text and voice messages on Monday at 9 p.m.

The victim had been playing the popular video game with Aliperti for months prior to the threats. The family of the boy reported the threats to police, and they increased their presence at the boy’s school, considering it a direct security issue.

Aliperti was arrested Tuesday for aggravated harassment and acting in a manner to injure a child. His bail was set at $2,500 and the victim was issued an order of protection.

Messages left with Aliperti’s attorney were unanswered.
