The Daily Mail reports that a man stopped a knife-wielding neighbor who was stabbing his wife by spraying her with ketchup. A Tennessee woman tried to stab her neighbor in the middle of the night with a knife, and was stopped with a spray to the face of liquified tomatoes.

In Murfreesboro, the victims awoke at 2:45 a.m. to their neighbor, Shalonda Latrice Shepard, banging on their door. When they opened it, Shepard threw a bowl of sugar at them and started stabbing the wife with a steak knife.

The husband then retrieved ketchup from the kitchen after desperately looking for a weapon, and returned to squirt it on Shepard. She immediately stopped stabbing his wife and became very angry about the ketchup. She told them she would “take care of them in the morning” and left.

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for multiple cuts to her elbow, upper back and stomach.

Shepard was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass. She was released when her $20,500 bond was posted and her next court date is slated for July.
