LawNewz reports that a man allegedly attacked his wife with a chainsaw while their children were home. The mother survived the attack by Alejandro Alvarez, 32, who is still being sought for arrest for attempted murder in California. He is 5’3” and 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a possibly stolen SUV, blue and tan, 2004 Mercury Mountaineer with California license plate 8ABD233. He is considered armed and dangerous, but the chainsaw has been recovered.

Alvarez fled the scene in his own SUV before allegedly crashing and stealing the Mountaineer, which was unattended at the time.

Media interviewing neighbors learned that the couple had been living in the neighborhood for five years with three elementary-aged children. It is believed those children were taken into protective custody.

As of Thursday, Alvarez was still on the run. The children were at home when the attack occurred, and the victim is stable and expected to recover. The only details given about her injuries were that they were inflicted on her upper body.
