Stephanie Ringgold, a 33-year-old resident of Baltimore, is making headline news across the nation this morning after an embarrassing night of drinking. According to Maryland Police, the suspect was arrested and charged with the same crime twice in a span of only 20 minutes.
Ringgold was spotted in her vehicle driving along Route 40 in Rosedale. A state trooper witnessed her car excessively speeding and utilizing the shoulder to pass slower cars. After seeing the maneuver, the trooper initiated a traffic stop. The officer on duty could clearly tell that the suspect was impaired. She had been driving, but there was also another adult, a 4-year-old and a six-month-old in the car. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence, taken to the Baltimore County Police Station and processed.
Within minutes of being processed, the suspect was authorized to leave the station. She was released into the care of a sober driver, and the police officer returned to his patrol on Route 40. Incredibly, he saw Ringgold return to where her car had been abandoned, got into the driver’s seat and proceeded to drive away. The suspect was obviously still too intoxicated to drive, so the officer immediately stopped her again. Another sobriety test was issued, and the driver was returned to the police station.
Ringgold was charged twice with driving under the influence. She was also charged with driving within twelve hours of being arrested for driving under the influence and DUI while transporting a minor. She was again released to a sober driver.
