Shaun Weiss, a 38-year-old former movie star, suffered public embarrassment over the weekend when he was discovered by North California Police officers highly intoxicated. The authorities arrested Weiss, but it remains unclear whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
At around 12:47 A.M. on August 4, officers patrolling outside of the main boulevard in Oroville stumbled upon a group of rowdy individuals. The group was hanging out around a closed business, and police noticed they were acting suspiciously with flashlights. Weiss was allegedly shining the flashlight into his own face and laughing hysterically. His actions prompted the police to approach the group.
Officers confirmed that Weiss was not combative or resisting. To the contrary, the suspect was amusing the officers with his witty humor. Despite his antics, officers could tell he was too intoxicated to be left alone. Weiss was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was taken to the Butte County Jail for a few hours until he sobered up.
Weiss is best known for playing Goldberg as a child in the popular Mighty Ducks series during the 1990s. He also had a role in the “Heavyweights”, “Drillbit Taylor” and “Neflix & Chill”. Like so many other child actors, Weiss has struggled with drugs and run-ins with law enforcement officers. In 2017, Weiss was arrested twice within days of each other for theft and possession of methamphetamine. The suspect’s thin and pale mugshot bore little resemblance to the chubby, tan and happy youngster we see in the Mighty Ducks films.
