On February 17th, Police discovered two deceased victims inside their Bronx apartment. The victims were a 51-year-old mother and her 14-year-old son. Authorities determined that the youngster had been strangled, while the mother had been stabbed. Both had also been brutally beaten prior to being killed. Now, police are searching for a murderer.
Police became aware of the situation when 51-year-old Marisol Ortiz never showed up for work on Sunday. Concerned co-workers couldn’t get in touch with Ortiz, so they contacted her 22-year-old daughter. Her daughter couldn’t reach her either, so she showed up at their home. She was horrified and immediately called police when she saw what was inside.
According to authorities, the victims were found in separate rooms. Exercise equipment, which was likely used to beat the victims, was found nearby both bodies. Police also found a bloody knife near the mother. Oddly, there were also several torn-up banknotes scattered atop the mother’s body.
Authorities questioned nearby neighbors and learned that the two victims were heard screaming at around 1 or 2 A.M. The neighbor told police she assumed the noise was coming from a nearby party.
No one has been arrested for this crime yet. Police are looking for the victim’s boyfriend, a former convict, as a person of interest. The possible suspect has allegedly been imprisoned for assault in the past, but his name has not been released because police are not yet ready to press charges.
