Three people have been killed and two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition in Jacksonville after an apparent murder-suicide.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the ordeal occurred at around 3:00 in the morning on January 19th. The shooting occurred inside a private residence located in the subdivision off Normandy Boulevard.
Authorities have withheld the names of the two hospitalized individuals, but they have confirmed the identities of the deceased. The victims include 33-year-old Ryan Mark Chesser, who lived at the residence, and 32-year-old Eric James Bryant.
The suspected shooter, who lives at another residence in Jacksonville, was also killed during the ordeal. He has been identified as 26-year-old Jacoby Lamar King.
Initial police reports, evidence and witness statements suggest that King’s attack was not random. King had reportedly dated Chesser, one of the victims, in the past, but they were not currently dating when the incident occurred.
It is believed that King witnessed Chesser and his friends enjoying an evening out before he followed them home and ambushed them. One of the critically wounded individuals was able to identify her shooter on the way to the hospital.
Nearby neighbors reported the disturbing incident occurred just after they heard ear-piercing screams. After the ordeal, the sister of one of the victims was inconsolable for about an hour. Neighbors reported being unnerved by the ordeal.
This shooting is the second multiple shooting that has occurred in Jacksonville over the past three days. On Wednesday, an unrelated shooting took the life of one person and left five others wounded.
