The New York Police Department has successfully identified and arrested at least five people in connection with the brutal murder of Lesandro Guzman-Feliz.
Guzman-Feliz, nicknamed “Junior,” was a 15-year-old boy who was found tragically stabbed to death near midnight on June 20th. The incident began when a concerned witness dialed 911 about an ongoing assault. The victim appeared to be involved in a verbal altercation with the five suspects when someone drew a knife. Junior was able to rush across the street to a nearby hospital, but his wounds turned out to be fatal.
Devastated, the police department has been working hard and asking for the public’s assistance with any information regarding the senseless crime. Investigators found surveillance video of the group of boys dragging the victim outside while stabbing him repeatedly. Police uploaded the footage onto social media in an attempt to identify the suspects. An outpouring of support and tips from the community led police to two suspects who also gave information about three additional individuals.
According to investigators, the killers attacked young Junior due to a tragic case of mistaken identity. The group of five gangsters believed the victim was a different boy they were targeting, and they never intended to hurt this innocent bystander. The individuals, all self-proclaimed members of the Trinitarios street gang, have publicly apologized to the victim’s family for the grief they have caused.
The victim had hopes of one day become a detective with the New York Police Department, and he was even enrolled in an NYPD Explorers youth program. While five arrests have been made, this investigation is still ongoing.
